CATV/FIBER Maintenance Technician

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and skilled CATV/Fiber Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing, and installing cable television and broadband internet(CATV) and fiber optic infrastructure, ensuring reliable service delivery to customers. Your expertise in telecommunication systems, fiber splicing, and network infrastructure will be essential to keep our communication networks operating smoothly. Duties Perform routine and preventive maintenance on fiber optic cables, network equipment, nodes, amplifiers, and related infrastructure. Troubleshoot and resolve service outages, signal issues, and connectivity problems for internet, voice, and data services. Install, splice, terminate, and test fiber optic and coaxial cables using tools such as OTDR, optical power meters, and cable testers. Respond to service tickets and emergency calls, including on-call rotation for after-hours network restoration. Conduct field repairs on drops, pedestals, cabinets, and customer premises equipment (modems, routers, ONTs). Inspect, maintain, and repair power supplies and backup systems supporting the network. Document work orders, test results, and maintenance activities accurately in company systems. Collaborate with installation teams, network engineers, and customer service to deliver high-quality service. Ensure compliance with safety standards, company procedures, and industry regulations (e.g., proper use of ladders, PPE, and traffic control). Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical certification (e.g., fiber optics, broadband, or networking) preferred. 2+ years of experience in telecommunications, cable/internet installation, fiber maintenance, or field service (ISP or broadband environment strongly preferred). Working knowledge of fiber optic splicing, OTDR testing, and network troubleshooting tools. Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and perform physical tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs). Experience in climbing utility poles or towers using safety harnesses and climbing gear. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation. Strong problem-solving skills and customer-focused attitude. Available for on-call rotation and occasional overtime/weekend work. Ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks safely and efficiently. Familiarity with telecommunication systems including LAN, Ethernet, WAN (Wide Area Network), and low voltage electrical wiring. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, schematics interpretation, and network infrastructure components. Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to maintenance challenges.
