Maintenance Technician - Commercial Exhaust Systems (Heights Required)
Starting Pay:
$20/hour Job Summary The Maintenance Technician is a field-based role responsible for cleaning and servicing commercial kitchen exhaust systems, including hoods, ducts, and exhaust fans. This position involves physically demanding industrial cleaning work and requires regular work at elevated heights, including climbing extension ladders and accessing rooftops at heights of 24 feet or more . This role is ideal for individuals who are safety-focused, dependable, and comfortable performing hands-on work in fast-paced commercial and industrial environments. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Clean and maintain commercial kitchen exhaust systems, including hoods, ducts, fans, filters, and related components Remove grease buildup using pressure washing equipment, degreasers, scrapers, and manual tools Clean grease-contaminated surfaces and related equipment in accordance with company and industry standards Safely climb extension ladders and access rooftops on a regular basis (24+ feet) Set up, operate, and maintain pressure washing systems, tools, and safety equipment Prepare company vehicles and equipment prior to job execution and secure equipment after service Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable OSHA guidelines Drive company vehicles to and from job sites as required Maintain professional conduct while working at customer locations Follow work orders, instructions, and direction from supervisors or crew leads Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs Physical & Safety Requirements Ability to safely work at elevated heights and on rooftops Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to approximately 50-55 pounds Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods Ability to work in confined or restricted spaces when required Comfort using ladders, safety harnesses, PPE, and industrial cleaning equipment Commitment to workplace safety and compliance standards Work Environment Field-based role at commercial and industrial customer locations Work performed indoors, outdoors, on rooftops, and in confined spaces Exposure to grease, wastewater, cleaning chemicals, weather conditions, and industrial equipment Qualifications Valid driver's license required Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a Class E driver's license Ability to operate company vehicles in accordance with company policies Ability to pass required background screening and drug testing Dependable attendance and reliability are essential Prior experience in industrial cleaning, commercial services, or maintenance is preferred but not required — training provided Key Competencies Strong safety awareness and attention to detail Reliability, accountability, and strong work ethic Ability to follow directions and standard operating procedures Ability to work effectively as part of a team Willingness and capability to perform physically demanding work Additional Information This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
