We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Parks Maintenance Technician to join our team. This is a working supervisory role responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and work direction to Parks Maintenance Workers and project employees. You will oversee the construction, maintenance, and repair of our park's trail system while performing hands-on technical tasks. The ideal candidate ensures the safety, beauty, and operational efficiency of our outdoor spaces. Primary Responsibilities •
Supervision:
Organize and oversee the daily performance of subordinate staff; provide clear instructions and coordinate work schedules to meet priority and emergency needs. •
Trail & Grounds Maintenance:
Direct and perform tasks including mowing, tree trimming, mulching, pesticide application, and shoreline rip-rap installation to protect trails. •
Construction & Repair:
Lead new construction and repair projects, including water/irrigation lines, sewer lines, and electrical trenching. •
Equipment Operation:
Operate and maintain a fleet of heavy equipment including trucks, tractors, loaders, excavators, and commercial mowers. •
Emergency Response:
Respond to after-hours emergency calls for grounds-related needs and lead snow/ice removal operations during inclement weather. •
Administrative Oversight:
Maintain records (keys, safety logs, work hours), order materials/supplies, and assist in preparing formal employee evaluations. Additional Information Help for Additional Information. Opens a new window. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities •
Technical Proficiency:
Strong knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and construction principles. •
Leadership:
Skilled in training, mentoring, and applying progressive discipline when necessary. •
Operational Awareness:
Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings; knowledge of bid specifications and purchasing procedures. •
Physical Resilience:
Ability to work in extreme heat or cold and lift up to 50 lbs. •
Communication:
Excellent verbal and written skills to interact with staff and the public effectively. Minimum Qualifications •
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. •
Experience:
At least five (5) years of increasingly responsible related work experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). •
Licensing:
Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable to drive in normal and inclement weather. •
Compliance:
Ability to pass a drug-screening test and maintain 20/20 corrected vision with clear color perception. Desired Qualifications • Valid Class "A" or "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
