Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and skilled Building Maintenance Technician to ensure the optimal operation, safety, and appearance of our facilities. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of building systems and equipment, troubleshooting issues promptly, and performing repairs that keep our environment functional and welcoming. Your expertise will help create a safe, efficient, and comfortable space for all occupants and visitors. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your technical skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting. Duties Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC units, and mechanical equipment to ensure smooth operation. Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment using schematics, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools. Conduct HVAC system repairs, including filter replacements, system calibrations, and troubleshooting of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units. Carry out plumbing maintenance and repairs such as fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and maintaining plumbing systems. Utilize hand tools and power tools for carpentry tasks like repairing doors, windows, drywall, or building interior fixtures. Maintain facilities equipment including elevators, lighting systems, fire alarms, and security systems to meet safety standards. Lead or assist with maintenance painting projects to enhance the appearance of interior spaces. Supervise or collaborate with team members on complex repairs or projects requiring mechanical knowledge or welding skills. Read schematics and technical manuals to diagnose issues accurately and execute repairs efficiently. Ensure compliance with safety protocols during all maintenance activities while providing excellent customer service to building occupants. Qualifications Proven experience in facilities maintenance or building repair roles with a strong understanding of mechanical systems. Proficiency in electrical work including electrical equipment repair and troubleshooting using tools like ohmmeters. Hands-on experience with HVAC system repair and plumbing system maintenance is essential. Mechanical knowledge combined with skills in welding, carpentry, painting, and the use of hand tools. Ability to interpret schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams accurately. Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) is a plus for troubleshooting automated systems. Strong leadership or supervisory experience demonstrating the ability to oversee maintenance projects effectively. Excellent communication skills in English to coordinate tasks clearly with team members and occupants. Experience working with Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO) supplies to ensure timely parts replacement and upkeep. Knowledge of building interior maintenance practices along with facilities equipment maintenance standards.
