A Building and General Maintenance Technician performs building maintenance and appliance repairs for an apartment complex, housing division, residential center or business, as directed by a property manager.
Plant Maintenance Description This position assists and performs assigned tasks involved in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and related equipment. Examples of Duties Essential Duties Performs routine inside/outside painting; mowing, pruning and other landscaping tasks; moving furniture; making minor repairs to buildings and systems. Operates power equipment, mowers, and automotive equipment. Performs routine maintenance and upkeep of mechanical equipment and appliances. Assists with delivery and pick-up of materials by the Receiving Department. Performs routine custodial duties as needed. Observes safe working conditions. Always maintains professional appearance. Additional Duties Position will / may be required to open campus for daily operations, which may require work schedule flexibility. Availability for after-hours support, including evenings and weekends, may be required on occasion. Performs other duties as assigned by
Director, Facility Services Typical Qualifications Education and Experience:
Must have high school diploma or GED. One (1) year of experience
Licenses and Certificates:
Valid state driver's license. Must have a forklift operator certification or be able to obtain within 180 days of hire. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic knowledge of maintenance trades (carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical) Demonstrate a mechanical aptitude and be able to use tools and equipment necessary for the job. Basic computer skills include e-mail, web-based training, online forms and requests, as required. Can follow written and oral instructions. Supplemental Information Physical Demands This job requires continuously talking or hearing, frequently standing, frequently walking, frequently reaching with hands and arms, frequently gripping, or feeling with hands, typing/repetitive movement, occasionally climbing or balancing, occasionally stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, occasionally sitting. Frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to indoor environment, outdoor environment, noise, extreme temperatures, vibration, moisture and/or humidity, dust, fumes, gases, electrical hazards, mechanical hazards, burn hazards, sharp objects/tools.
