Floor Tech Environmental Services
EDUCATION
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
Some experience with waxing, operating floor equipment preferred but not required.
POSITION SUMMARY
Daily cleaning of floors in corridors and other assigned areas, steam cleaning of carpets, stripping and waxing of hard floors. All work is done in accordance with the standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department. Staff will use cleaning equipment, including a 20" buffer, auto scrubber, commercial vacuums, 24 oz wet mops, large wringers and other necessary equipment, tools, products and supplies. Staff will attend floor care training or seminars when available.
COMPETENCIES
  • Cleans and maintains assigned areas in such a manner that all standards are met.
  • Disposes of trash and regulated waste in a manner that is compliant with all regulations.
  • Maintains floors, corridors, ect in such a manner that safety and attractive appearance is achieved.
  • Operates and maintains all equipment correctly and safely.
  • Ability to move heavy furniture, lift heavy trash, linen and supplies.
  • Sets up and takes down meeting rooms as needed or requested.
  • Has knowledge of chemicals used within the department.
MEASUREMENT
Able to maintain areas as directed, comply with all regulations when disposing of regulated waste. Maintains safe environment; "wet floor" signs are used, no equipment is left unattended, uses good safety measures when waxing or mopping floors or vacuuming carpeted areas. Items in need of repair are reported or removed if appropriate. Staff uses proper body mechanics when lifting heavy equipment, furniture, trash and linen. This person will be scheduled Monday through Friday and one weekend a month, occasional overtime and rotating holidays and day/night hours. Ability to work in a partnership environment which fosters effective teamwork. Willing to be cross-trained in order to fill in at other EVS areas as needed.
