Full Job Description Experienced Fleet Mechanic We're Hiring:
Experienced Fleet Mechanic We are looking for a skilled, dependable mechanic with hands-on experience servicing school buses and Chevy Express cutaway vehicles to join our team. The ideal candidate has strong diagnostic and repair skills and is familiar with New Jersey specifications, safety codes, regulations, and vehicle inspection requirements . Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and inspections on school buses and Chevy Express cutaway vehicles. Diagnose and repair brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, HVAC, engines, transmissions, and other vehicle systems . Perform routine DOT and safety-related inspections and ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant. Prepare vehicles for NJ inspection and address inspection-related repairs and deficiencies. Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records. Identify potential mechanical and safety issues before they become major problems. Follow all applicable NJ motor vehicle, school bus, and commercial vehicle regulations . Keep vehicles maintained according to manufacturer recommendations and company standards. Respond to urgent mechanical issues and minimize vehicle downtime. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment. Qualifications Previous professional experience working on school buses is strongly preferred. Experience working on Chevrolet Express Cutaway vehicles. Strong knowledge of automotive and commercial vehicle mechanical systems. Familiarity with New Jersey school bus specifications, codes, regulations, and inspection processes . Ability to accurately diagnose mechanical and electrical problems. Knowledge of NJ inspection requirements and ability to prepare vehicles for inspection. Strong attention to detail and commitment to vehicle safety. Ability to work independently and manage multiple vehicles. Valid driver's license required. ASE certifications are a plus. CDL with school bus/passenger endorsements is a plus. What We're Looking For We need someone who knows these vehicles and understands the importance of keeping school transportation safe and compliant . Experience with NJ school bus regulations and inspections is especially valuable. If you have the experience, take pride in your work, and understand the responsibility that comes with maintaining vehicles used to transport students, we want to hear from you.
