Visit us at www.depalmahotels.com Position Summary We are seeking a dependable and experienced Hotel Maintenance Technician to provide part-time weekend coverage for our Engineering Department. This hands-on position helps keep guestrooms, public areas, meeting and event spaces, food and beverage areas, equipment and hotel facilities operating safely and properly throughout the weekend. The technician will respond to guest and operational maintenance requests, troubleshoot problems, complete repairs and preventive maintenance, and communicate unresolved or more complex issues to hotel engineering leadership. Because this position provides important weekend coverage, the successful candidate must be dependable, comfortable working independently and capable of prioritizing maintenance needs in an occupied full-service hotel. Responsibilities Respond promptly and professionally to guestroom and hotel maintenance requests. Troubleshoot and complete routine repairs involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, fixtures, equipment and general building systems within the employee's training and experience. Repair or replace items such as faucets, toilets, drains, light fixtures, switches, outlets, door hardware, locks and other hotel equipment as appropriate. Perform basic painting, patching, drywall, carpentry and general building repairs. Diagnose guestroom maintenance issues and return rooms to service as efficiently as possible. Complete assigned preventive maintenance for guestrooms, public areas, equipment and building systems. Inspect hotel areas for maintenance concerns, safety hazards and conditions requiring corrective action. Support the proper operation and appearance of public areas, meeting and banquet spaces, restaurant and bar areas, pools and other hotel facilities. Respond to urgent maintenance issues that could affect guest comfort, safety or hotel operations. Determine when an issue can be safely corrected and when engineering leadership, management or an outside vendor must be contacted. Communicate professionally with guests when completing maintenance work in occupied areas or guestrooms. Coordinate with the front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, banquets and hotel leadership regarding maintenance needs. Complete work orders accurately and document completed repairs and unresolved conditions. Maintain tools, equipment, maintenance areas and supplies in a clean and organized condition. Follow proper lockout/tagout, chemical-handling and other applicable safety procedures. Report equipment failures, water leaks, unusual conditions and potential safety concerns immediately. Help protect the hotel from avoidable damage by responding quickly to water, electrical, mechanical and other urgent maintenance conditions. Maintain a professional appearance and work environment while performing repairs in guest-facing areas. Perform other reasonably related maintenance duties as needed to support weekend hotel operations. Qualifications The ideal candidate is a practical problem-solver who is comfortable working with their hands, troubleshooting different types of maintenance issues and providing dependable coverage in a busy hotel environment. Required At least one year of general building, hotel, apartment, commercial-property or facilities maintenance experience. Basic working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC and general building-maintenance practices. Ability to safely use common hand tools, power tools and maintenance equipment. Ability to diagnose basic maintenance problems and determine an appropriate course of action. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance requests. Ability to communicate professionally with guests, hotel associates and management. Strong attention to safety and proper maintenance procedures. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Ability to work the required weekend schedule consistently. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, kneel, climb, reach, push and pull. Ability to lift and carry maintenance equipment and supplies, with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Previous hotel maintenance or hotel engineering experience. Two or more years of building or facilities maintenance experience. Previous experience in a full-service hotel, conference hotel or other 24-hour commercial facility. Experience troubleshooting guestroom
HVAC/PTAC
systems. Experience with basic plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall and carpentry repairs. Familiarity with preventive-maintenance programs and electronic work-order systems. Previous Marriott or other branded-hotel experience. HVAC, electrical, pool or other applicable maintenance certifications are a plus.
