Job Description

Maintenance Technician - full time evenings, rotating weekends The Maintenance Technician supports the Plant Operations team by performing basic maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of the facility. This role works under the direction of senior maintenance staff and helps ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
What You'll Do:
Assist with basic repairs and maintenance of equipment such as beds, wheelchairs, carts, and other facility items. Support maintenance staff with simple plumbing tasks, including unclogging drains, replacing fixtures, and assisting with minor repairs. Perform general building upkeep, including: Repairing furniture and doors Replacing ceiling tiles Basic wall patching and touch-up work Assist with painting and minor cosmetic repairs as needed. Help with moving equipment, setting up rooms, and basic installations. Perform routine inspections of assigned areas and report maintenance concerns to supervisors. Assist with groundskeeping and outdoor maintenance, including use maintaining areas around the building Understand procedures, including: Reporting hazards promptly Maintaining clean and safe work areas Following fire and safety protocols Maintain resident privacy and confidentiality at all times Attend required training and in-service programs Provide general support to the maintenance team on projects and daily tasks Assist in emergency situations, including helping relocate residents under direction Support other Brothers of Mercy facilities as needed Perform other related duties as assigned Working conditions Works throughout the facility, both indoors and outdoors May be exposed to weather conditions, odors, and cleaning chemicals May encounter residents, families, and visitors in various situations May work in tight spaces or at heights (with supervision and training) Equal Opportunity Employer Brothers of Mercy prohibits discrimination against applicants and employees on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, veterans' status, sexual orientation, predisposing genetic characteristics, domestic violence victim status, or any other legally protected status. High school diploma or equivalent preferred Prior maintenance or labor experience helpful but not required Willingness to learn on the job Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team Good communication and customer service skills Basic problem-solving ability Dependable and willing to learn new skills Comfortable working in a healthcare environment with older adults Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies Ability to safely use basic tools and equipment
