Job Purpose:

The Patient Care Technician provides basic nursing care to patients, transports patients within the hospital, and monitors a safe and clean environment. The Patient Care Technician provides clerical support, including order entry as the patient care and patient flow required. Work is performed under the supervision of a Staff Nurse (RN) in accordance with established hospital standards, nursing department structure and standards, established regulatory and accreditation requirements, and the indiviudal patient's special physical or age-related needs.

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent. Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific groups which include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) within three (3) months of transfer or hire.

Experience:

One (1) year experience as a Nurse Assistant or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting.

Preferred:

Emergency Department, Critical Care or EMT experience, Medical Office Assistant training.
