Job Description
Sylvania Township is accepting applications for full-time Road Maintenance (Utility Worker) position in the Road Department. This position works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Foreman and general supervision of the Road Foreman. The Utility Worker performs semi-skilled and skilled labor to service Sylvania Township and its residents. This position is unionized and is subject to the current Collective Bargaining agreement. Perform semi-skilled and skilled labor work in maintenance, construction, and repair activities Service work of Township roads, storm sewers, curbs, and infrastructure within the right of way Snow and ice control operations Operate a variety of equipment, machinery and tools Perform maintenance and burials in a cemetery Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Foreman and/or Road Foreman Adheres to safety and operating procedures of equipment and ability to learn for new equipment Understanding of Concrete and Asphalt materials General construction materials and practices Traffic laws and rules involved in vehicle and equipment operations Occupational hazards and safe work practices Use of Laser planes, levels, measuring devices and basic math Operate all software programs and equipment necessary to meet the needs of Sylvania Township and the Road & Service department Possess and maintain a current valid driver's license, Ability to obtain a Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement w/in 6 months of hire (paid training) Ability to work effectively with other departments, co-workers, vendors and contractors Maintain and establish working relationship with other co-workers and/or other departments Tact and courtesy when interacting with the public, vendors, contractors, suppliers and staff Possess good oral and written communication skills Operate all software programs and equipment necessary to meet the needs of Sylvania Township and the Road & Service department Ability to work on-call or unscheduled overtime needed including nights, weekend and holidays with prompt and regular attendance Competitive Health and Pension Benefits are available. $29.31 an hour (within the first year) Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance Ohio Public Employees Retirement (OPERS) Vacation, Personal, Bonus and Sick Time Tuition & Gym Reimbursement Teamsters Local No. 20 Longevity Bonus Employee Assistance Program
