Facilities Maintenance Technician (open to entry level or experience technicians)

$32-$38 (Depends on experience level) Paid Holidays and PTO Job Description The Maintenance Technician joins the Facilities department and supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of building systems and utilities. This role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and building control systems, as well as end-of-life equipment replacements and upgrades. You will work as part of a collaborative team to maintain a high level of customer service for internal stakeholders, while continuously developing your technical skills and helping introduce new technologies and efficiency improvements within the facility. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on facilities equipment and systems, including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and building controls, to ensure safe and reliable operation. Complete daily assigned work orders accurately and on time, and clearly communicate any required follow-up actions or issues discovered during maintenance activities. Evaluate existing equipment and recommend improvements that enhance availability, capability, and yield, supporting continuous improvement of facility operations. Review, suggest, and revise preventive maintenance procedures to ensure facilities equipment is properly maintained and aligned with reliability and safety standards. Conduct equipment failure analysis for both preventive and unscheduled maintenance events, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems using systematic methods, technical documentation, and test equipment to quickly restore normal operation. Participate in reliability-centered maintenance programs, contributing to strategies that improve long-term equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime. Support total equipment management by engaging in daily and proactive activities that improve operations and help achieve business targets and objectives. Provide mentorship and team-building support by modeling effective work habits, clear communication, and the sharing of technical knowledge and expertise with colleagues. Expand and maintain technical expertise through formal training and on-the-job learning, actively participating in the maintenance training program. Support and engage in activities that promote new ideas, technologies, methods, and approaches that enhance competitiveness and operational efficiency. Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring maintenance work is performed in a safe and compliant manner. Plan and prioritize work assignments effectively by preparing schedules, setting clear milestones, and meeting agreed completion dates. Collect and analyze relevant data to identify root causes of equipment issues and develop effective countermeasures that prevent recurrence. Use computer tools such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel to document maintenance activities, prepare reports, and support communication with the team. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Urbana, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
