Job Overview Position Summary Sunshine of Warren- Trumbull Area, Inc., is a nonprofit housing organization committed to providing safe, quality, and affordable housing to families in our community. We are seeking a dependable, skilled, and service-oriented Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep, repair, and overall condition of approximately 200 occupied single-family homes. This position plays an important role in helping residents maintain stable housing by responding promptly to maintenance needs, completing repairs, and ensuring homes remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Maintenance Technician will: General Maintenance & Repairs Perform routine maintenance and repair work in occupied single-family homes. Diagnose and complete repairs related to: Plumbing (faucets, toilets, drains, minor leaks) Electrical (switches, outlets, fixtures, basic troubleshooting) Carpentry and drywall repair Doors, locks, windows, and hardware Flooring and general interior repairs Exterior maintenance and minor structural repairs Perform seasonal maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks. Property Inspections & Turnover Support Conduct periodic property inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns. Document maintenance conditions and completed work. Assist with preparing homes for occupancy and supporting turnover activities when homes become vacant. Resident Service & Communication Respond to resident maintenance requests professionally and respectfully. Communicate repair timelines and expectations with residents. Educate residents, when appropriate, on basic home care and preventive maintenance practices. Vendor & Inventory Coordination Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and tools. Obtain materials needed for repair projects while managing costs responsibly. Compliance & Safety Follow all organizational policies and applicable housing, safety, and building standards. Maintain clean and safe work practices. Participate in emergency maintenance response as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 3 years of maintenance, residential construction, facilities, or property maintenance experience preferred. Working knowledge of residential systems and repairs. Ability to troubleshoot and prioritize maintenance requests independently. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to pass background screening and any applicable requirements. Experience working with occupied homes and diverse resident populations preferred. Skills & Attributes Strong problem-solving ability. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Dependable and self-motivated. Organized and able to manage multiple priorities. Respectful, patient, and professional in resident interactions. Commitment to supporting the mission of affordable housing and community service. Physical Requirements Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb ladders, kneel, bend, stoop, and work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. Ability to operate standard maintenance tools and equipment. Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly wage based on experience Health insurance, paid time off, holidays, mileage reimbursement
Pay:
$19.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
