Job Description

The Skilled Maintenance Technician is responsible for installation and repairs on HVAC equipment, plumbing and electrical work, maintenance, and custodial tasks for City Hall and other City-owned buildings and grounds. The incumbent must prioritize when and how to complete repairs. The person in this position may provide recommendations as to the best method of maintaining and repairing elements to the City's buildings. To perform installation, maintenance, and repairs on City buildings, to maintain City structures, and to assist and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. Perform general and detailed carpentry, electrical, plumbing and maintenance work involved in the alteration, repair and maintenance of county buildings and equipment. Installation of less complicated heating and air-conditioning systems, plumbing fixtures and electrical circuitry. Schedule and perform routine and preventative maintenance of air-conditioning and heating systems Determine with assistance of the Maintenance Supervisor whether to perform maintenance projects internally or to obtain outside professional services. Participate in safety and training programs, as necessary. Perform all maintenance duties in an efficient, safe, and timely manner. Operate equipment and tools such as power hand tools, saws, electrical and traffic signal testing equipment, lift trucks, vacuum pumps, paint striping machines, welders, and cutting torches Remodel offices and buildings along with new construction for City buildings as required. Utilize proper safety precautions related to all work performed. Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment, repair and replace defective parts, and diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them. Estimate time, materials, and equipment needed for job assignments; requisition materials as needed. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience:
Requires High School Diploma or GED 2 years related experience
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid Driver's License Knowledge and Skills :
Basic construction techniques and methods, operational characteristics of construction equipment and tools, and operations of signing and marking program. Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance. Occupational hazards and standard safety practices. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

This is a Safety Sensitive position: This job has been classified as a "safety sensitive" position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations, the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act and/or Oklahoma Medical Marijuana laws. In this position, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, which might include random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a Medical Marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for Marijuana.
