Position Description The Electrician, reporting to the Director of Plant Operations helps to maintain all facets of the Electrical Components. In addition, the Electrician assists with troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems and other duties as assigned. Position Responsibilities Maintains electrical circuitry, interior and exterior lighting, repairs/diagnosis of all types of equipment (I.e. minor elevator repairs, kitchen equipment, lawn equipment/tools and HVAC Equipment). Maintains all electrical equipment and interacts and coordinates work with outside vendors when repairs/service are beyond our expertise. Maintains and repairs the numerous hard-wired Fire Alarm systems including Simplex, Edwards and ADT. Installs new circuits, circuit panels, fire alarm systems and site lighting. Organizes, schedules and completes work requests as assigned. Assists with Preventive Maintenance work on all equipment. Assists lead mechanics on repairs and installations of HVAC equipment. Maintains a University vehicle and all position-related equipment such as tools, and two-way radio, etc. Performs additional duties as instructed by the Director of Plant Operations. Status:
Staff, Full-Time, Hourly, Regular, 12 Months Per Year, 40 hours/week.
Shift:
Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm. Overtime and On-Call status are required as requested by the Director of Plant Operations. Qualifications
- The incumbent must possess a strong background in both Electrical and mechanical electrical systems.
- The incumbent should possess a minimum of 3 years of electrical trade work in the field or in a manufacturing setting and/or a technical institute degree is preferred but not required.
- A proven ability to manage the details of several work request / projects at the same time.
- Strong communication skills and a common knowledge for safety are essential.
- A strong knowledge with Fire Alarm Systems is preferred.
- The ability to lift and move materials (in excess of 50 pounds) and operate power tools and hand tools in a safe and proper manner.
- The ability to climb ladders and use of a 32 foot aerial lift.
- A current valid driver's license with an exemplary driving record is required.
- Must appreciate and establish excellent relationships with both internal and external customers.
- Availability for emergency / on call support is required.
- Must be flexible, and able to work without constant supervision.
- Personal hand tools required.
- It is preferred that the incumbent exhibits an understanding of, and support for, the University's evangelical Christian mission.
