Job Description

Salary:
$35,200 - $44,000 (depending on experience)
Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 260 days/year
Job Goal:
To assist in the maintenance of all CAIU facilities, property, and equipment while ensuring a safe, operational environment. Oversee the functional operation of mechanical equipment and any fabrication as necessary. Provide customer service to employees and visitors.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Take direction from and assist Facility Operations Coordinator with maintenance and repair needs. 2. Assist with small building projects as needed. 3. Serve as back up to the Lead Receiver and Warehouseman during extended absences. 4. Assist with moving equipment and furniture as needed to classrooms and CAIU satellite locations. 5. Ensure equipment is properly maintained, including lawn equipment, snow removal equipment, floor equipment, etc. 6. Perform maintenance including painting and repair of roofs, buildings, windows, doors, lights, etc., as needed. 7. Be familiar with and provide light maintenance for heating and air conditioning units. 8. Provide light electrical maintenance and installation services. 9. Perform servicing/repairs and maintain plumbing and sprinkler systems to ensure proper working condition. 10. Safely operate forklift and pallet jacks, and move bulk materials and skidded materials in the warehouse, garage and outdoors as needed. 11. Order materials and supplies as needed and maintain inventory to ensure necessary items are available to perform required tasks. 12. Assist the Facility Operations Coordinator with overseeing the inspection of buildings, playgrounds, and boilers to ensure the areas are cleaned/maintained properly and are safe for staff, students, and teachers. 13. Maintain grounds by performing such duties as mowing, string trimming, snow removal, painting, trimming bushes, weeding flowerbeds, mulching, etc. 14. Assist with maintaining and updating on-line Warehouse and MSDS catalogs. 15. Provide assistance as necessary to personnel in the absence of the Facility Operations Coordinator and/or Supervisor of Operations and Transportation. 16. Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor of Operations and Transportation; the Facility Operations Coordinator 17. Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director or his/her designee.
Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or GED 2. Working knowledge of light power tools, hand tools, mowers, blowers, snow removal equipment, and similar maintenance equipment. 3. Two years of similar or related experience including time spent in preparatory positions such as custodial or maintenance roles. 4. Experience or certifications in forklift, pallet jack and materials moving equipment operation and safety preferred, with the ability to attain safe operation certifications within first year of employment. 5. Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical; and plumbing systems preferred, certifications are not required. 6. Knowledge of basic pest control and Integrated Pest Management practices preferred. 7. Basic computer skills, including use of e-mail, Word and Excel, and other Windows-based programs. 8. Previous experience in any maintenance-related area(s) is a plus.
