Part-Time, Monday-Friday, 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM (3 hours daily)
Position Summary :
The Maintenance/Facilities Technician is responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and overall upkeep of the John Paul II Center for Special Learning campus. This role supports daily operations by conducting regular inspections, performing repairs, coordinating with vendors, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students/participants, staff, and visitors. Key Responsibilities Conduct routine inspections of the campus to identify maintenance needs, including but not limited to HVAC issues, plumbing concerns, roof leaks, lighting, damage to building and fence, playground equipment, pest activity, and general facility wear. Perform physical and mechanical repairs to maintain a safe and functional environment. Carry out new projects and facility improvements as assigned. Maintain ongoing relationships and service contracts with outside contractors and vendors. Coordinate and facilitate work with outside contractors, including scheduling site visits for project quotes and preventative maintenance. Remove bird/bee nests and report any pest concerns. Monitor water system for performance and maintenance; add salt as necessary. Pressure wash playground equipment, fencing, patio, and building exterior as needed. Winterize the playground area, including swings and canopy. Perform daily and weekly housekeeping tasks to assure cleanliness and safety on campus. Assist with special projects and additional duties as directed. Qualifications Experience in general maintenance, facilities support, or a related field preferred. Ability to perform basic mechanical and building repairs. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks. Must be able to perform physical duties, including safely lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, and working outdoors in all weather conditions. Physical Demands Must have the ability to perform physical labor for the duration of a scheduled shift; safely lift and carry items up to 50 pounds; climb ladders and work at heights; work outdoors in varied weather conditions; bend, kneel, and perform repetitive physical tasks; operate hand and power tools safely; and understand and follow oral and written instructions.
