Full-Time Maintenance Technician Needed! 37.5 working hours, 9am-5pm! Make an Impact Every Day At Sojourner House, maintenance is about far more than fixing buildings. Every apartment you prepare, every repair you complete, and every property you help maintain creates a safe, welcoming place for survivors and families rebuilding their lives after domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, homelessness, and housing instability. This role plays an important part in preserving our homes, protecting our housing portfolio, and ensuring every resident has a place they can feel safe calling home. You'll work independently throughout Rhode Island while partnering closely with Property Management, Operations, contractors, and vendors to keep our residential communities operating at their best. What You'll Do No two days look exactly the same, and that's what makes this role rewarding. Property Maintenance & Repairs Perform drywall installation and repairs Complete interior and exterior painting Replace and repair bathroom fixtures Perform minor plumbing repairs Troubleshoot minor electrical issues Complete carpentry and finish work Repair doors, locks, and hardware Repair cabinets and countertops Complete flooring repairs and replacement Repair windows and screens Install and replace appliances Assemble and install furniture Complete caulking and weatherproofing Unit Turnovers Prepare apartments for new residents Complete punch-list items Paint and patch walls Replace damaged fixtures Perform deep cleaning as needed Conduct final quality inspections Ensure apartments are clean, safe, and move-in ready Preventative Maintenance Conduct routine property inspections Identify maintenance concerns before they become larger issues Monitor building systems Report safety concerns Inspect common areas Assist with seasonal preventative maintenance Grounds & Exterior Maintenance Mow lawns and perform trimming Remove litter and debris Maintain walkways and entrances Assist with snow and ice removal Perform seasonal exterior maintenance Emergency Maintenance Participate in a rotating on-call schedule Respond to emergency maintenance requests Assess maintenance issues and determine appropriate next steps Coordinate with vendors when necessary Respond on-site when immediate action is required Daily Operations Travel throughout Rhode Island between multiple properties Complete work orders accurately and on time Document completed work within agency systems Maintain tools and equipment Communicate proactively with supervisors Provide exceptional customer service to residents and coworkers Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working in occupied homes What Makes Someone Successful Here This role is a great fit for someone who: Takes pride in producing high-quality work Notices details that others may overlook Works independently while remaining accountable Enjoys solving problems rather than avoiding them Adapts quickly when priorities change Communicates professionally with residents, coworkers, vendors, and contractors Treats every property with care and respect Understands that quality maintenance contributes to dignity, safety, and stability for the people we serve Represents Sojourner House with professionalism and respect at every location What You'll Bring Must-Haves High school diploma or GED Five (5) or more years of verifiable residential or property maintenance experience Experience performing repairs across multiple trades Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle; company vehicles are not provided Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities Comfort using smartphones, tablets, Google Workspace, and Buildium Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to bend, kneel, climb stairs, and occasionally climb ladders Ability to safely navigate occupied residential properties and construction environments Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Nice to Have OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification EPA Lead-Safe Renovation (RRP) Certification Lead Abatement Certification HVAC experience Electrical, plumbing, or carpentry certifications Affordable housing or nonprofit property maintenance experience

On-Call:
Participation in a rotating after-hours and weekend on-call schedule is required While many calls can be resolved remotely, some emergencies require responding to a property outside normal business hours.
