Multi Craft Technician Pay:
30-34 an hour Second Shift Located in North Charleston Job Description The Maintenance Technician diagnoses and repairs mechanical, pneumatic, electrical (including PLC), hydraulic, and robotic systems to keep production equipment running reliably and efficiently. This role focuses on completing preventive maintenance, minimizing downtime, supporting continuous improvement projects, and maintaining a safe, organized, and well-documented maintenance operation within a modern manufacturing facility. Responsibilities Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, electrical (including PLC), hydraulic, and robotic systems during both planned and unplanned equipment downtime. Complete preventive maintenance schedules to ensure machine robustness, reliability, and maximum uptime. Inspect and maintain equipment, tools, and related assets to prevent interruptions to production and reduce unnecessary downtime. Analyze machine downtime proactively to identify root causes and correct mechanical and electrical issues before failures occur. Monitor and ensure availability of critical replacement parts for key manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime. Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records, logs, and documentation. Coordinate with external contractors for equipment repairs, upgrades, and services, sourcing cost-effective and high-quality solutions. Provide input into and support the completion of continuous improvement and equipment optimization projects. Perform facilities maintenance tasks as required to support safe and efficient plant operations. Maintain clear written communication regarding work performed, issues identified, and recommendations for corrective action. Create and maintain a safe and secure work area by following established safety practices and supporting a strong safety culture. Work toward and achieve annual goals and objectives related to maintenance performance and reliability. Adapt quickly to changing priorities and production demands, accepting new tasks as opportunities for learning and growth. Pursue continuous personal development by learning new skills and capabilities as business needs evolve. Essential Skills Proven experience troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic, and robotic systems in a manufacturing environment. Strong PLC troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve control-related issues. Demonstrated mechanical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to identify and correct root causes of equipment failures. Solid technical knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance position, preferably within the automotive industry. Ability to read, interpret, and use maintenance documentation, including logs, manuals, and technical information. Strong time management skills and a clear sense of urgency when responding to equipment issues. Effective organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, work orders, and priorities. Ability to work flexibly and adjust quickly to changing demands and requests. Additional Skills & Qualifications Courses in a maintenance-related discipline, with electrical certification or industrial electronics education preferred. Allen Bradley PLC programming experience preferred. Experience with total productive maintenance (TPM) systems preferred. Machining experience preferred. Familiarity with the Occupational Safety and Health Act and related regulations preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred. Experience using preventive maintenance software preferred. Strong written communication skills for documenting work and maintenance activities. Work Environment The role is based in a newer, climate-controlled manufacturing facility with a clean and well-organized production floor. The plant uses modern LED lighting and maintains comfortable environmental conditions to support safe and efficient work. You will work with advanced production and automation equipment, including PLC-controlled systems and robotics, and use computer-based tools such as preventive maintenance software and office applications. The environment supports a professional industrial dress code appropriate for a manufacturing setting, with a strong emphasis on safety and adherence to plant procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Charleston, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
