Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician supports reliable production operations by troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems across a large packaging and distribution facility. This role focuses on equipment operation, repair, and preventive maintenance while working with computers, robots, and maintenance software to minimize downtime and support production needs. Responsibilities Operate, repair, and perform general maintenance on equipment within the assigned area to ensure safe and efficient performance. Complete all assigned preventive maintenance tasks on schedule to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life. Respond quickly to machine breakdowns and perform timely repairs to restore production as soon as possible. Assist and support production teams with equipment-related needs, providing technical guidance and hands-on help as required. Train and assist production personnel on proper equipment use and basic maintenance practices when needed. Use 480V electrical knowledge to safely troubleshoot and repair high-voltage equipment within established safety guidelines. Perform limited troubleshooting on PLC-controlled equipment without performing programming changes. Work with computers and robotics systems as part of equipment operation, diagnostics, and maintenance activities. Use Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software to document work orders, record maintenance activities, and track equipment history. Utilize basic Microsoft tools, including Excel and Word, to complete logs, reports, and maintenance documentation. Collaborate with other maintenance and production team members to identify recurring issues and suggest improvements to equipment reliability. Essential Skills Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Hands-on experience with maintenance, repair, and operation of industrial equipment. Ability to work with computers and robotics in a production or industrial environment. Experience working with 480V electrical systems and related safety practices. Basic knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment, with the ability to perform limited troubleshooting. Proficiency with basic Microsoft tools, including Excel and Word, for documentation and reporting. Ability to use or quickly learn CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software. High School Diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications Technical degree from a trade or technical school (such as TCAT or similar trades program) is preferred. Previous experience with CMMS software is preferred. Prior robotics experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting is preferred. Experience in hydraulics and pneumatics maintenance and troubleshooting. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues efficiently. Effective communication skills to work with maintenance and production teams and provide training when needed. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a large, busy packaging and distribution facility with approximately 600 employees, increasing to around 1,000 during the peak season from October through December. The facility is expansive and not temperature controlled, so conditions can become hot during the summer months. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule on the 6:00 PM to 2:30 AM shift. You will work around industrial equipment, robotics, and computer-based systems, using CMMS software and standard office tools such as Microsoft Excel and Word while performing hands-on maintenance tasks on the production floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Vergne, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
