Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician supports reliable plant operations by performing multi-craft maintenance on production equipment, facilities, and grounds. This role focuses on troubleshooting, mechanical and electrical repairs, and routine preventive maintenance to keep equipment running safely and efficiently and to minimize production downtime. Responsibilities Perform general, non-specialized maintenance tasks on equipment, buildings, and grounds as required. Carry out a variety of general maintenance activities, including painting, bolting, welding, machining, simple plumbing, heating and air service, and electrical connections and disconnections. Make general repairs to production equipment, including pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. Diagnose and repair issues on production lines to return equipment to production state in a timely manner and reduce downtime. Perform electrical troubleshooting on systems including 480V power, relays, sensors, and 3-phase motors. Conduct preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to improve reliability and extend equipment life. Collaborate with other maintenance team members to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used in accordance with site procedures. Essential Skills Demonstrated experience with PLC troubleshooting. Hands-on experience with hydraulic repair and troubleshooting. Hands-on experience with pneumatic repair and troubleshooting. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including work with 480V systems. Ability to work safely with relays, sensors, and 3-phase motors. Proven capability as a true multi-craft technician with both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Experience performing preventive maintenance on production equipment. Ability to read and interpret equipment conditions to quickly restore machines to production state. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC systems. Background in welding, machining, and basic fabrication is beneficial. Experience with simple plumbing and basic HVAC service is a plus. Comfort working on a variety of production and facility systems in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Work Environment The role is based in a clean production and maintenance environment that is not climate controlled, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. Typical shift times are 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with overtime as needed to support production demands. You will work with a variety of industrial equipment and systems, including PLC-controlled machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic components, and electrical systems up to 480V. The environment emphasizes safety, teamwork, and hands-on problem solving while maintaining equipment reliability and supporting ongoing operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
