Job Description

Job Title:
Multicraft Maintenance Technician Job Description This role focuses on providing comprehensive industrial maintenance support with a strong emphasis on electrical troubleshooting at 480 volts. The technician performs preventative and corrective maintenance, conducts reliability studies, and ensures equipment operates safely and efficiently in a fast-paced, highly automated automotive facility. Responsibilities Perform advanced electrical troubleshooting on industrial equipment operating at 480 volts to quickly identify and resolve issues. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical wiring diagrams to diagnose faults and guide repair activities. Execute preventative maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend the life of production equipment. Carry out corrective maintenance and repairs in response to equipment breakdowns, ensuring timely restoration of operations. Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document work orders, track maintenance activities, and maintain accurate equipment history. Conduct reliability studies and assessments to identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to equipment performance. Use a multimeter and other diagnostic tools to test, verify, and troubleshoot electrical circuits and components. Support and maintain industrial systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, and other mechanical components as part of multicraft responsibilities. Troubleshoot and maintain programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and associated control systems to support automated processes. Work with Fanuc robots and other automation equipment, performing adjustments, troubleshooting, and repairs as needed. Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize work and minimize disruption to operations. Follow established safety procedures and lockout/tagout practices when working on electrical and mechanical systems. Document all maintenance activities clearly and accurately in the CMMS, including parts used, time spent, and actions taken. Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance equipment reliability, safety, and overall plant efficiency. Essential Skills Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience working with 480-volt systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical wiring diagrams. Hands-on experience performing preventative and corrective maintenance in an industrial environment. Proven experience responding to equipment breakdowns and performing timely repairs. Proficiency using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for tracking maintenance activities. Skilled in the use of multimeters and other electrical testing equipment. Experience in industrial maintenance, including exposure to automated and high-volume production environments. Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and related troubleshooting. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, just-in-time automotive facility. Commitment to following safety procedures and working safely around high-voltage equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial setting. Familiarity with Fanuc robots and robotic automation systems. Previous experience in a unionized plant environment. Comfort working in a highly automated plant with robotics and PLC-based systems. Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to diagnosing equipment issues. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly about maintenance needs and status. Work Environment The role is based in a unionized automotive, just-in-time production facility with a fast-paced operational tempo. The plant is highly automated, providing regular hands-on work with robots, PLCs, and advanced industrial equipment. The position primarily operates on second shift from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with current schedules often extending to 10-12 hour days and including weekends. The facility is clean but non-climate controlled, so temperatures can vary with the seasons. Work involves regular use of electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and frequent interaction with 480-volt systems and industrial machinery.
