Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician performs efficient and effective maintenance activities that support the safe production of high-quality products, minimize costs, and protect the environment. This role focuses on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of industrial equipment, while working closely with cross-functional teams to maximize equipment reliability and uptime. Responsibilities Rebuild large gearboxes, including disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly to ensure reliable operation. Align pumps and other rotating equipment to manufacturer specifications to reduce vibration and extend equipment life. Perform mechanical rebuilds on various rotary equipment used throughout the plant. Carry out welding tasks as needed for maintenance and repair work, excluding code-certified welding. Troubleshoot, fabricate, install, repair, calibrate, check, and adjust equipment, controls, and facility parts to maintain high levels of equipment utilization. Unwire and rewire equipment for maintenance activities and perform basic instrument troubleshooting as required. Perform preventive maintenance on motors, gearboxes, conveyors, screw presses, blend tanks, agitators, servo motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other industrial equipment. Interpret and work from schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to perform repairs and installations. Use multimeters and other diagnostic tools to perform electrical and electronic troubleshooting. Support maintenance of PLC-controlled systems by performing basic PLC troubleshooting in coordination with other technical staff. Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance practices, equipment reliability, and overall plant performance. Essential Skills Minimum of 2 years of experience in the electrical and mechanical field in an industrial environment. Proven experience as a true Industrial Maintenance Technician with multi-craft capabilities (mechanical, electrical, and basic instrumentation). Hands-on experience rebuilding large gearboxes and performing mechanical repairs on industrial equipment. Skilled in using multimeters and other diagnostic tools for electrical and electronic troubleshooting. Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings. Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in an industrial manufacturing plant that operates complex production lines, including machines, conveyors, screw presses, blend tanks, agitators, refiners, servo motors, pneumatics, and hydraulics. The process includes material entering the plant, going through a shredding process, passing through a series of tanks and refining stages with a chemical bath, then being repulped and transported via piping to a thermoforming department. The normal working schedule follows a 2-2-3 shift pattern on nights, with standard hours of 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Training occurs on days for approximately 1-2 months, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. There are opportunities for 8-36 hours of overtime per month, and a shift differential is offered for night shifts. The environment is typical of an industrial plant, with operating machinery, process equipment, and production lines, requiring appropriate safety practices and personal protective equipment Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vonore, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $34.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
