Are you passionate about maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient environment? Do you have experience in facility maintenance and enjoy hands-on work? Vogel is looking for a dedicated Custodian and Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this role, you'll play a key part in ensuring that our facilities remain in top condition, supporting our mission by providing a safe and clean space for all staff and visitors. You'll help maintain and repair our buildings, perform regular cleaning tasks, and assist in ensuring our grounds are well-kept. If you have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality, we want to hear from you! This is a full-time, nonexempt, on-site position with compensation at $18.00 per hour. Please note that this position may require assistance at our other locations as needed - Vogel Main, Vogel North and Vogel Redbird What We Do Vogel is a well-established nonprofit organization with over 36 years of history in providing exceptional care and early childhood education. Our mission focuses on serving young children from homeless and domestic abuse shelters, offering a nurturing environment for growth and development. We support both children and their parents through a two-generation approach, providing resources and education that help families move toward a brighter future.
What You'll Do Cleaning & Maintenance:
Maintain a regular cleaning schedule for floors, media boards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms. Ensure facilities are disinfected according to Vogel's standards.
Building & Grounds:
Keep buildings and grounds, including sidewalks, parking lots, and play areas, clean and free of debris. Remove trash and dispose of it appropriately.
Facility Support:
Assist with moving furniture and equipment, setting up for special events, and opening/closing the facility.
Repairs:
Perform light repairs, such as fixing woodwork, replacing electrical switches and fixtures, and repairing plumbing issues. Identify and report major repair needs.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Wash Vogel vehicles monthly and perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
Inventory & Supplies:
Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and request additional items when needed.
Safety & Maintenance:
Correct unsafe conditions in the work area, report non-correctable conditions to the Maintenance Supervisor, and follow safety procedures.
Work Orders:
Receive and complete work orders in a timely manner. Help with deliveries and pickups at various Vogel sites and vendors. What Will Make You Successful in This Role (Skills)
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in building maintenance, cleaning, or related fields.
Driver's License:
Must possess a valid Class C Driver's license and reliable transportation to report to multiple Vogel sites.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to work in various physical conditions, including standing, walking, climbing ladders, and lifting heavy equipment.
Tool Use:
Comfort with hand and power tools and knowledge of basic building maintenance and repair procedures.
Safety & Cleaning Knowledge:
Ability to follow cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
Communication:
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Flexibility:
Willingness to work unique hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required. Why Us?
