Job Description
Job Summary:
Under regular supervision, performs skilled work to maintain and repair City-owned buildings, systems, and equipment. Work involves preventive maintenance and responding to repair needs. Reports to the Facilities Manager.Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or GED.Experience:
Two (2) years of related facility maintenance experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Licenses/Certifications:
Valid State Driver's License. Must meet the background requirements to pass the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) standards to have unescorted access in all city locations, including the Police Department.Essential Job Functions:
Logs into Energy Management System and checks HVAC operations. Reviews activity and security system reports. Delivers mail to City and County offices. Responds to work orders and performs miscellaneous repairs. Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC and other building systems. Purchases materials and supplies for repairs. Responds to alarms including fire, power failure, and emergency notifications. Cleans and maintains mechanical areas of City facilities. Coordinates with vendors, contractors, tenants, and supervisors. Prepares and processes reports including incident/accident documentation and vehicle mileage logs. Performs other related duties as assigned.Knowledge of:
Skilled maintenance methods and building repair procedures. HVAC, electrical, plumbing, painting, and construction principles. National Electric Code and applicable building codes and ordinances. Occupational hazards and safety precautions related to maintenance trades. City policies and procedures.Skills in:
Operating HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment Using hand tools, power tools, meters, circuit tracers, and diagnostic instruments. Reading blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation. Communicating effectively with supervisors, co-workers, vendors, and the public. Preparing accurate records and reports.Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Work is performed in mechanical rooms, offices, and outdoor environments with exposure to heat, cold, noise, humidity, dust, machinery hazards, and occasional hazardous materials. Subject to standing, walking, reaching, handling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing frequently.
