The Maintenance Department at Caviness Beef Packers can consist of Experience Mechanics, The Truck Shop, Utilities & Refrigeration, and others. Main responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining and servicing mechanical equipment, machinery and components, performs skilled repairs services and assure that work is done in an efficient and safe manner. Employee is regularly exposed to hot, wet and/or humid conditions, slippery surfaces at different heights, moving mechanical parts and fast paced work environment. Responsibilities This position is responsible for plant maintenance operations to include maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment, utilities operations, preventative maintenance, environmental systems, and plant refurbishment and renovations. This job will also responsible for maintaining operational safety standards to mitigate ammonia and other hazards. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry at least 70 pounds. This position may require you to be outside in extreme hot and/or cold environments and also requires driving during inclement weather. May continuously moving trailers in and out of loading dock but is not limited to these duties. Daily operations and maintenance all utility systems including high pressure boilers, air compressors, water feed systems, chemical controls and Ammonia refrigeration systems Perform daily rounds on utility and refrigeration systems report any deviations Maintain all areas in the dept., clean and organized Assist higher level operators in all aspects pertaining to the dept. Complete preventive maintenance work orders in an effective and efficient manner Comply with PSM program requirements Must be able to follow all safety protocol Drive shag truck - Pull and back 48 and 53-foot trailers. Physically wash out trailers. Maintain a wash and shag report. Walk yard checking trailer temperatures. Will need to follow directions. Will need to communicate on two way radios with staff. Diesel Mechanic a plus (will give first consideration) Qualifications Ability to lift 70 lbs HS Diploma or equivalent Minimum of 1 yr. experience in a maintenance role or repairing equipment - in a manufacturing facility (meat processing a plus) Experience on a variety of equipment including lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control and packaging equipment Ability to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems and independently take appropriate corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment down time Mechanical background preferred Must be able to work rotating shift (days/nights) Must be able to read/write in English to complete logs on regulatory and operational records Stable work historySimilar jobs in Hereford, TX
