Job Description
As the Maintenance Technician, you will serve as a hands-on individual contributor responsible for the maintenance strategy and execution for critical Terminator equipment within the Melt Shop at Gerdau. This role is essential to ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations by minimizing downtime and driving equipment performance. You'll partner closely with operations and engineering in a fast-paced, heavy industrial environment where safety and continuous improvement are top priorities. What You'll Do Own and execute maintenance activities for Terminator systems, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components
Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime
Troubleshoot equipment issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions
Ensure timely execution of corrective maintenance to support continuous mill operations
Enforce safety protocols, including LOTO, confined space, and hot work procedures
Conduct safety audits, hazard assessments, and lead incident investigations
Identify and implement reliability improvements to reduce unplanned downtime
Analyze maintenance KPIs and data to drive continuous improvement initiatives
Partner with engineering and operations on upgrades, modifications, and capital projects
Align maintenance planning with production schedules and priorities
Support production teams during critical equipment issues to ensure safe and efficient recovery What You Bring High school diploma or GED required
5+ years of maintenance experience in a steel mill or heavy industrial environment
Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex equipment and implement root cause solutions
Strong understanding of industrial safety standards and compliance requirements
Experience using maintenance metrics and data to improve performance
