Benefits Performs routine maintenance and repairs on city water, sewer mains, and services. Summary of Duties
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Utilities Supervisor/Sr. Gas Operator

This is a non-supervisory position.

Has contact with other city employees and the general public.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Performs maintenance and routine repairs on waters, sewer mains, and services;
Repairs and replaces pumps, motors, bearings, reduction boxes, chlorine cylinders, fittings and regulators, meters, lines, valves, stops, tie-ins, taps, etc.;
Install water and sewer tapes and repair leaks;
Operates pickup trucks, backhoe, jet rig, ditch witch, welder, cutting torch, and safety or other equipment;
Maintains equipment in proper working condition, including checking oil, water, fuel, tires, and hydraulic system, and making appropriate adjustments;
Has the necessary skills to excavate around gas, sewer, electric, and telephone lines;
Sets up street barricades and detour routes as necessary;
Other Important Duties
Maintains on-call status as necessary.
May perform poly welding on gas lines while on call; and
Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
methods, practices, and equipment natural gas; and the safe operation of light equipment and the provisions of the Texas Motor Vehicle Code relating to the operation of such motorized equipment.
Skill/Ability to:
service and repair equipment at city water, gas, and wastewater facilities. Understand and follow instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers; tolerate outside working conditions, including exposure to adverse weather conditions; and maintain appropriate necessary certifications, Texas driver's license applicable to job responsibilities, and good driving record. Qualifications
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
High school Diploma, or its equivalent, or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED
Appropriate Texas driver's license; and Class C Water Commission. Certification in poly fusion certification is desirable.
Water and Wastewater Certification from the Texas Water Commission. Supplemental Information
