Position Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment and facility systems to keep Tongrun's manufacturing operations running safely, efficiently, and reliably. Working closely with the Maintenance Lead and Maintenance Planner, this position will execute assigned work orders, troubleshoot equipment issues, respond to production breakdowns, document completed work, and communicate any issues that could affect production. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, takes ownership of their work, has strong troubleshooting skills, and understands that minimizing equipment downtime is critical to the success of the production team and our customers. Key ResponsibilitiesPreventive & Corrective Maintenance Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on CNC fabrication and production equipment, including: Punch presses Laser cutters Press brakes Welding systems Material handling equipment Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment issues. Monitor equipment condition and identify developing problems before they result in unplanned downtime. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns during production hours. Communicate estimated downtime and repair status to the Maintenance Lead and appropriate supervisor. Escalate repairs when additional expertise, parts, tools, or resources are required. Safety & Lockout/Tagout Verify safe working conditions before beginning any maintenance task. Follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE, electrical safety, and other established safety procedures. Identify and address workplace hazards before beginning work. Perform all maintenance activities in accordance with OSHA requirements and Tongrun safety standards. Never bypass established safety procedures or equipment safeguards. CMMS & Work Order Management Complete and close assigned work orders in the CMMS before the end of the shift.Accurately document:
Labor hours Parts and materials used Equipment findings Repairs performed Follow-up work required Create work orders for emergency and reactive repairs, even when the repair is completed quickly. Maintain accurate maintenance history to help identify recurring equipment issues and support future preventive maintenance planning. Daily Maintenance Operations Participate in the daily maintenance start-of-shift meeting. Review assigned work, confirm job readiness, and communicate changes to availability or scope. Maintain communication with the Maintenance Lead throughout the shift. Take ownership of assigned tasks and see repairs through to full resolution. Communicate issues or conditions that deviate from the daily maintenance plan. Parts, Tools & Equipment Maintain assigned tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies. Monitor critical spare-part inventory and notify the Maintenance Lead when replenishment is needed. Assist with equipment movement and installation activities as required. Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment, including mechanical assembly, connections, and initial functional testing. Facilities Maintenance Support basic facility maintenance as directed, including: Lighting Compressed air systems Minor building repairs General facility upkeep Assist other maintenance team members as needed to support facility and production operations. What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Hands-on experience in at least two of the following areas: Electrical troubleshooting Mechanical repair Pneumatics Hydraulics Ability to read and understand basic: Electrical schematics Pneumatic diagrams Mechanical drawings Experience using a CMMS for work order documentation and maintenance records, or willingness to learn Tongrun's system. Understanding of OSHA safety requirements and consistent adherence to Lockout/Tagout and electrical safety procedures. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate an issue. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to respond to urgent maintenance needs with professionalism and a sense of urgency. Preferred Qualifications Experience troubleshooting PLC-based control systems. Previous experience maintaining CNC fabrication or metalworking equipment. Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and predictive maintenance practices. Experience with equipment installation and commissioning. What Success Looks Like A successful Maintenance Technician at Tongrun is someone who: Keeps assigned equipment operating safely and reliably. Responds quickly and professionally when equipment problems occur. Identifies potential failures before they become major production interruptions. Completes preventive maintenance on schedule. Accurately documents every repair and work order. Takes ownership of problems from initial diagnosis through final resolution. Communicates effectively with maintenance and production leadership. Consistently follows safety and LOTO procedures. Looks for ways to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime. Physical Requirements This position is physically active and requires the ability to: Safely lift and handle parts, equipment, and maintenance materials weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift. Stand and move throughout the production floor, mechanical spaces, and facility areas for the majority of the workday. Bend, stoop, reach, kneel, climb, and work in awkward positions as required. Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements while operating tools and handling mechanical and electrical components. Work safely in confined spaces and at heights when required. Work in varying temperature conditions throughout the facility. Safely operate a pallet jack and assist with equipment movement. Assist other team members with maintenance or production-related tasks when operational needs require. Work Environment The Maintenance Technician works primarily in a precision metal fabrication and manufacturing environment, with a combination of production-floor and office settings. The shop environment may include exposure to: Production machinery Moderate noise Moving equipment Varying temperatures Mechanical and electrical equipment Required PPE will be provided when working on the production floor.
