Maintenance Technician (Day Shift)
Location:
Sugar Land, TX Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician (Day Shift) for our Sugar Land, Texas facility. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic production equipment to ensure maximum operational safety and equipment efficiency. Our capabilities include 3-, 5-, and 9-layer film extrusion, 10-color flexographic printing, solvent and solventless lamination, in-house plate making, slitting, and pouch converting to deliver innovative, high-quality packaging solutions. Our plant is operational 24/7. In our fast-paced manufacturing environment, the Maintenance team is essential to driving overall plant reliability and efficiency. Working alongside Plant Engineering, Maintenance Technicians execute proactive preventive maintenance routines to minimize downtime, perform swift corrective repairs, and assist with equipment overhauls, rotations, and new machinery installations.Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repair:
Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) routines and handle emergency/unscheduled repairs promptly to minimize production downtime.Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:
Read technical diagrams, blueprints, and electrical schematics to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues using testing devices (e.g., Volt-Ohm meters).Electrical & Mechanical Systems:
Install, maintain, and repair electrical control systems, wiring, lighting, and rotating mechanical equipment.Safety & Compliance:
Adhere strictly to OSHA rules, facility safety regulations, proper PPE usage, Food Safety guidelines, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Report hazards, accidents, and injuries immediately.Administrative & Systems Tracking:
Audit and maintain accurate maintenance logs, program records, and work orders using our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Mobile Equipment Operation:
Safely operate (or train to operate) forklifts, scissor lifts, and articulating booms.Qualifications & Requirements Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. Maintenance licenses or trade certificates are a plus.Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of mechanical and electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.Technical Skills:
Strong background in mechanical troubleshooting, electrical wiring, pneumatic systems, and rotating equipment. Ability to read schematics and use diagnostic tools.Physical Demands:
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 100 lbs.Shift & Availability:
Day Shift; must have the flexibility to work weekend rotations as required by production schedules.General Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication, comfortable using computers/reporting systems, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.Preferred Machinery Experience Extrusion:
Multi-layer extrusion equipment (specifically Windmöller & Hölscher / W&H)Printing:
Flexographic printing presses (specifically W&H)Slitting:
Roll slitting machines (specifically Kampf and Deacro)Converting:
Wicketing machines (specifically LEMO) and pouching machines (specifically Totani) Tools & Technology Provided /Required Hand & Power Tools:
Hand tools, machining tools, and welding equipment.Diagnostics:
Volt-Ohm Meter and electrical testing equipment.Aerial & Material Handling:
Forklifts, Scissor Lifts, and Articulating Booms.Software:
