NATURE OF WORK

Under direction of the Parks, Recreation and Cemetery Supt., performs various building and facilities maintenance repairs. Performs major repairs of all types on all City buildings and facilities. Perform related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1 Perform general building maintenance repairs, including but not limited to, minor carpentry, door and/or door lock repair or replacement, closures, minor electrical repair, switches, outlets, lights, and ballast replacement. 2 Perform furniture repairs, assemble and move furniture. 3 Perform plumbing repairs and/or replacement of fixtures. 4 Perform dry wall repairs, such as taping and bedding, texturing, painting, and cleaning. 5 Install and repair communication radios and other types of safety equipment on public safety vehicles and the City fleet. 6 Manufacture signs for various City Departments along with assisting Street Dept. as needed. 7 Perform minor repairs on HVAC and electrical systems and coordinate with private contractor on major repairs of all types on all buildings and facilities. 8 Communicate courteously and effectively with other employees, officials, and the public. 9 Keep assigned equipment in good working order and assist with custodial duties as needed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

May be exposed to hazards such as chemical, dust, fumes and toxic waste, using appropriate safety precautions and equipment. Some exposure to mechanical, electrical, and explosive hazards, utilizing proper safety equipment and precautions. See and hear clearly to work safely under varying conditions. This job is considered to be in the heavy work category however the majority of the time it is considered to be in the light work category.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED required. Texas Class C Drivers License required. Minimum of 2 years experience required in repair and operation of all types of building equipment and systems, including a minimum of 9 months experience during the past 18 months. Must be familiar with all types of tools and methods related to the repair trade. Must be able to physically perform the Essential Functions of the job. Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with the public and with other City employees
