About the Role As a Commercial Door Field Technician, you will serve as a primary technical expert responsible for the installation, maintenance, and complex repair of industrial door systems and loading dock hardware. You will play a vital role in ensuring operational continuity and safety for our clients by delivering high-quality mechanical solutions in a fast-paced field environment. Responsibilities Execute precise installations and troubleshooting of commercial door systems, including automatic operators, storefront glazing, and high-security hardware. Diagnose mechanical and electrical failures, performing expert-level repairs on springs, hinges, closers, and access control components. Ensure all site work adheres strictly to building codes and safety regulations to protect facility occupants. Provide consultative support to clients by explaining technical issues and recommending cost-effective, long-term maintenance solutions. Document service activities, repair histories, and installation data to maintain accurate site records. Conduct final quality inspections to verify that all equipment meets rigorous performance standards. Configure low-voltage systems and integrated hardware to optimize door functionality and security. Qualifications Required Skills Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in the commercial or industrial door service industry. Demonstrated proficiency with power tools, hand tools, and accurate measurement techniques. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware and electrical issues. Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and perform tasks in varied physical positions. Valid driver's license and ability to pass background and motor vehicle screenings. High school diploma or equivalent certification. Preferred Skills Current AAADM certification. Prior experience with welding or metal fabrication. Familiarity with hollow metal doors, frames, and advanced dock equipment. Experience with computer-based reporting and service management software.
