Job Description
Utah Valley University offers this role as an opportunity to make a visible, meaningful impact on a growing campus community while building a well-rounded maintenance and facilities skill set. Based at UVU's Wasatch Campus in Heber, this position plays a key role in keeping buildings, equipment, and grounds safe, functional, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors. The work is hands-on and varied, involving preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, and custodial care across offices, classrooms, and shared spaces. Individuals in this role apply multiple trade skills—including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC—while following established codes and best practices, with support from experienced supervisors when more complex issues arise. In addition to offering stable weekday hours ( Monday-Friday, 1:30 pm-10:00 pm, with flexibility), this position provides the satisfaction of seeing the direct results of your work every day. Seasonal snow removal adds variety and a strong sense of teamwork during critical times, with opportunities for overtime when needed. Performs preventive maintenance to campus facilities and carries out minor maintenance job-related duties as assigned. Secures doors and windows of all areas and all buildings. Assists in emergency procedures and assists in recycling and pest control. Maintains all types of floor surfaces, fabric surfaces, and upholstery. Maintains the grounds and compounds, including snow removal. Maintains halls, stairs, elevators, entryways, and lobbies. Maintains inventory and cleans custodial closets and storage areas. Maintains offices, classrooms, labs, conference rooms, dining room, food preparation and serving areas, and ballroom. Maintains and cleans restrooms, including porcelain and stainless steel surfaces, walls, floor drains, floors, etc. Helps the campus and facilities maintain a good public image by providing a safe, clean, comfortable environment conducive to learning for students, visitors, and employees. Other duties as assigned. Graduated with a standard high school diploma or the equivalent plus one to three years of experience related to key roles and responsibilities. Must have a valid driver's license.
