EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT
: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example:
bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience). Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels: Facilities /Maintenance Technician, II:
Requires at least 1 year of related experience. Preferences One or more years of experience in hotel, hospitality, commercial, healthcare, higher education, or institutional facilities maintenance. Experience performing basic maintenance and repairs involving HVAC equipment, plumbing fixtures, electrical systems, carpentry, painting, drywall, flooring, or general building systems. Experience maintaining hotel guest rooms, public spaces, conference facilities, or similar occupied facilities. Technical training, certification, or coursework in HVAC , electrical, plumbing, building maintenance, or a related trade. Basic ability to read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment instructions, and technical manuals. Experience completing preventative maintenance and documenting completed work. Demonstrated ability to complete routine assignments independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and adapt to changing operational needs. Ability to recognize maintenance issues that require advanced troubleshooting or specialized repair and seek appropriate guidance. Possession of a valid Utah driver's license with a good driving record, or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe. Strong customer service, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
