Job Description
Overview We are seeking a proactive and versatile Building Maintenance Technician / Handyman / Cleaner to ensure our facilities remain safe, clean, and well-maintained. This energetic role offers the opportunity to contribute to a positive environment by performing a variety of maintenance, cleaning, and repair tasks. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, resourceful, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and functionality across our premises. Duties Perform routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and detailed janitorial tasks to uphold cleanliness standards. Conduct general repairs such as fixing fixtures, patching walls, and addressing minor maintenance issues to keep facilities operational. Maintain floors through buffing, polishing, and applying protective coatings to ensure a professional appearance. Assist with custodial responsibilities for both commercial and residential spaces, including window cleaning and surface sanitation. Support facilities maintenance by inspecting equipment, reporting issues, and coordinating repairs with external vendors if necessary. Handle industrial cleaning tasks in warehouses or manufacturing areas to ensure safety and compliance with health standards. Support painting projects for interior or exterior surfaces as needed to refresh or improve the appearance of the facility. Groundskeeping duties include maintaining clean walkways, minor seasonal outdoor cleanup, and snow removal including plowing. Experience Prior janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or residential settings is highly preferred. Hands-on experience with floor care techniques such as buffing, stripping, sealing, and polishing floors. Knowledge of general maintenance procedures including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry or painting is advantageous. Familiarity with industrial cleaning processes and equipment is a plus. Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow safety protocols diligently. Previous porter or facilities maintenance experience will be considered an asset. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
