Job Description
Are you the person who notices something needs fixing—and just takes care of it? Do you like working with your hands, solving everyday problems, and seeing the results of your work at the end of the day? Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater La Crosse is looking for a dependable, hands-on Facilities Maintenance Specialist to help keep our Club facilities safe, clean, functional, and welcoming for the kids and families we serve. We're not looking for someone who is an expert plumber, electrician, carpenter, HVAC technician, landscaper, and custodian all rolled into one. We're looking for someone reliable who knows how to get things done. Someone who notices the loose door handle and fixes it. Someone who sees that a room needs attention and takes care of it. Someone who can work through a list without needing constant supervision—and who takes pride in leaving a building better than they found it. If you're handy, dependable, enjoy working independently, and like figuring out how to fix things, we'd like to meet you. What You'll Do No two days will be exactly the same.
You might:
- Complete basic building repairs and maintenance.
- Patch drywall, paint, replace hardware, unclog a drain, change filters, replace light bulbs, or assemble furniture.
- Troubleshoot an equipment or facility problem and figure out the next step.
- Walk through our facilities and identify things that need repair or attention.
- Complete preventative maintenance before small problems become big ones.

- Works independently. You don't need someone standing over you telling you what to do next.
- Notices things. When something is broken, unsafe, messy, or needs attention, you see it.
- Takes ownership. You don't assume someone else will take care of it.
- Follows through. If you start a project, you keep track of it until it's finished.
- Likes fixing things. You enjoy figuring out how things work and solving practical problems.
- Knows their limits. You can tackle everyday repairs but also recognize when it's time to bring in a professional.
- Takes pride in their work. You want the buildings you're responsible for to look good and function well.
