Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description This role focuses on performing self-directed reactive and planned maintenance on foundry equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. The Maintenance Technician works with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, supports production teams, and contributes to a clean, well-maintained manufacturing environment on a 3rd shift schedule. Responsibilities Perform self-directed reactive and planned maintenance on foundry equipment, including wheelabrators, blast chambers, rollovers, and related machinery. Diagnose and troubleshoot machine failures to minimize downtime and maintain consistent production output. Lay out wiring, build, and troubleshoot electrical panels and machinery in accordance with NFPA and NEC standards. Maintain the facility grounds and building exterior, including routine electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and HVAC repairs. Provide hands-on assistance and technical support to machine operators and production personnel as needed. Set up and operate lathes, drill presses, grinders, and welding equipment to perform equipment and component repairs. Perform preventive maintenance tasks to extend equipment life and reduce unplanned breakdowns. Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage to support effective planning and inventory control. Work collaboratively with other maintenance and production team members to identify and implement improvements in equipment reliability and safety. Essential Skills At least 2 years of mechanical repair experience, which may include work as a preventive maintenance mechanic. Hands-on mechanical skills with the ability to repair, rebuild, and maintain industrial equipment. Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial machinery. Working knowledge of electrical systems, including wiring, panels, and controls. Ability to lay out, build, and troubleshoot electrical panels and machinery to NFPA and NEC standards. Familiarity with hydraulic systems and components. Proficiency in using machine shop tools such as lathes, drill presses, and grinders. Ability to perform basic welding for maintenance and repair tasks. Capability to perform routine building maintenance, including basic carpentry, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical repairs. Willingness and ability to work 3rd shift hours (7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.). Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a foundry or heavy industrial manufacturing environment. Comfort working independently and making sound decisions in a self-directed maintenance role. Strong communication skills to effectively support machine operators and production personnel. Organizational skills to manage multiple maintenance tasks and prioritize work based on production needs. Commitment to safety and adherence to applicable electrical and mechanical standards. Work Environment This position operates in a relatively clean foundry setting on 3rd shift, with standard hours of 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. The facility includes a separate, well-maintained maintenance area equipped with a significant inventory of backup equipment and tools to support efficient repairs. The environment is open and organized, reflecting a focus on cleanliness and safety within a foundry context. Maintenance technicians regularly work with industrial equipment such as wheelabrators, blast chambers, rollovers, lathes, drill presses, grinders, welding equipment, and building systems including electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and HVAC components. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Pewaukee, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
