Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION
Based at our Arizona production facility, the Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant processing equipment. This role supports a high-performing team operating in a mineral transformation environment producing materials for industrial, food-grade, and pharmaceutical applications. The position requires strong mechanical expertise, versatility, and hands-on experience across rotating equipment, pneumatic systems, and packaging operations within a heavy industrial setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment across the plant, including conveyors, blowers, gearboxes, centrifuges, and material handling systems Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime Execute advanced mechanical rebuilds and equipment retrofits, including alignment, installation, and fabrication work Support operations involving pneumatic conveying systems, packaging equipment, and bulk material processing Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals to assemble and disassemble equipment Use the plant maintenance system to manage work orders, track progress, and document completed work accurately Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and supply chain teams to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure parts availability Support external contractors and equipment suppliers during inspections, repairs, and maintenance projects Safely operate mobile equipment and lifting devices in accordance with site procedures Respond to equipment breakdowns, including outside regular working hours as required, ensuring timely and effective resolution Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas at all times Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Perform all work in compliance with health and safety standards, environmental requirements, and quality systems Contribute to a strong safety culture with a focus on hazard identification and risk prevention Ensure compliance with applicable standards supporting the production of industrial, food-grade, and pharmaceutical products
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Post-secondary training in mechanical maintenance, industrial mechanics, or a related skilled trade (trade school, technical college, or apprenticeship) strongly preferred Relevant certifications in industrial maintenance, millwright, or similar trades considered an asset Experience Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial mechanical maintenance Experience in heavy industrial environments such as mining, mineral processing, cement, or manufacturing preferred Proven experience with pneumatic systems, rotating equipment, and bulk material handling Experience with packaging equipment and automated production lines is an asset Knowledge and Skills Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting and repair capabilities Experience in maintenance of pumps, conveyors, compressors, and drive systems Good understanding of pneumatic conveying systems and industrial processing equipment Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and mechanical schematics Basic fabrication and welding capabilities considered an asset Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively across departments Working Conditions Industrial plant environment with exposure to dust, noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures Regular standing, walking, climbing, and manual handling Ability to lift heavy loads and perform physically demanding tasks
