Position Summary The HVAC Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs on residential and light commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role focuses on system reliability, efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction while identifying potential issues before they become costly repairs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, and related components Inspect systems for proper operation, safety, and efficiency Clean, lubricate, and adjust system components as required Replace filters, belts, contactors, capacitors, and other common wear items Identify potential system failures and recommend repairs or upgrades to customers Accurately document maintenance findings, service performed, and recommendations Communicate clearly and professionally with customers regarding system condition and maintenance needs Follow all company safety policies, OSHA guidelines, and manufacturer specifications Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in a clean and safe condition Participate in on-call rotation as assigned Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required 1-3 years of HVAC maintenance or service experience preferred Trade school or technical training in HVAC a plus Licenses & Certifications Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record EPA Section 608 Certification (required) Additional HVAC certifications preferred (NATE, manufacturer training, etc.) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and components Ability to read wiring diagrams, manuals, and service documentation Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Basic electrical and mechanical aptitude Customer service-oriented with strong communication skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Proficient in using service software or mobile devices for documentation Physical Demands Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders regularly Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces Ability to work in varying weather conditions Work Environment Residential and light commercial job sites Exposure to heat, cold, dust, and noise Occasional work in tight or elevated spaces Schedule Typically Monday through Friday Overtime and on-call work may be required during peak seasons Travel Requirements Local travel within the assigned service area Equal Employment Opportunity Statement The Company is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or any other protected status.
