Primarily daytime hours, with some weekends, early-morning snow removal, and emergency availability as needed Position Summary Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Sheridan is seeking a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Technician/Groundskeeper to help maintain the hotel's guest rooms, public areas, equipment, building exterior, parking areas, and grounds. The ideal candidate has general repair and landscaping experience, takes pride in maintaining a clean and safe property, and can respond professionally to maintenance concerns. This position includes both indoor hotel maintenance and year-round outdoor groundskeeping. Hotel Maintenance Responsibilities Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests, housekeeping, the front desk, and management. Inspect guest rooms, public areas, hallways, stairwells, mechanical areas, and back-of-house spaces. Complete routine preventive maintenance in guest rooms and throughout the property. Perform minor plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, drains, and leaks. Perform minor electrical tasks, including replacing lightbulbs, switches, outlets, and batteries when qualified to do so. Troubleshoot heating and cooling equipment and clean or replace filters. Repair doors, locks, latches, furniture, fixtures, and other hotel equipment. Complete minor drywall, painting, caulking, flooring, and carpentry repairs. Inspect and maintain laundry, breakfast, fitness, and other hotel equipment within the employee's training and qualifications. Replace damaged or missing hardware, signage, and safety equipment. Complete work orders accurately and document repairs and preventive maintenance. Maintain an organized inventory of tools, parts, filters, lightbulbs, and maintenance supplies. Notify management when repairs require a licensed contractor or outside vendor. Coordinate professionally with approved vendors and contractors when directed. Follow guest-room entry, key-control, privacy, and security procedures. Keep maintenance rooms, storage areas, and workspaces clean and secure. Groundskeeping Responsibilities Maintain the hotel's lawn, landscaping, sidewalks, entrances, and exterior areas. Mow grass, trim edges, remove weeds, and maintain landscaped areas during the growing season. Pick up litter and keep parking areas, sidewalks, and building entrances clean. Inspect exterior lighting, signs, fencing, drains, and parking areas for damage or safety concerns. Water plants and landscaping and monitor irrigation equipment where applicable. Remove leaves, branches, and other outdoor debris. Assist with seasonal exterior cleanup and property-improvement projects. Keep dumpsters and exterior service areas clean and orderly. Snow and Ice Responsibilities Remove snow from sidewalks, entrances, emergency exits, and other assigned areas. Apply ice melt and maintain safe walking surfaces for guests and employees. Monitor entrances and high-traffic areas during winter weather. Be available for early-morning or weather-related snow removal when scheduled. Safely operate approved snow-removal equipment after receiving proper training. Safety and Property Standards Follow all hotel safety, fire-prevention, chemical-handling, and emergency procedures. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safely operate tools and equipment. Immediately report unsafe conditions, water leaks, electrical concerns, fire hazards, or security issues. Place warning signs or barriers around active work areas when necessary. Keep tools, chemicals, and maintenance materials secured and away from guests. Perform only work that is within the employee's training and qualifications. Maintain the property according to hotel and IHG brand standards. Qualifications Previous hotel maintenance, building maintenance, landscaping, construction, or facilities experience is preferred. General knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, heating and cooling equipment, carpentry, painting, and landscaping is preferred. Ability to identify maintenance problems and complete minor repairs safely. Dependable attendance, punctuality, and professional conduct. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Ability to communicate respectfully with guests, employees, vendors, and management. Willingness to work outdoors in changing weather conditions. Ability to respond to occasional urgent maintenance or weather-related needs. A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record may be required if operating a company vehicle. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, push, and pull throughout the shift. Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds. Ability to safely use ladders, hand tools, power tools, and groundskeeping equipment. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, wet, snowy, or windy conditions. Ability to perform repetitive maintenance and groundskeeping tasks.
