GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
To provide a safe, secure, and reasonable level of comfort for the employees of the City of Cheyenne and the people they serve. Under moderate supervision, perform a wide variety of detailed construction, repair, and maintenance work on city facilities and grounds; and to perform skilled technical tasks related to assigned areas of responsibility.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform semi-skilled construction, maintenance, repair work and related services for City facilities as assigned including control of snow and ice at City facilities to ensure employees and public safety. Construct and repair office furniture such as desks, shelves, chairs, and other equipment. Install and/or repair doors, door locks, door closures, crash bars, door frames and associated hardware. Arrange offices and other rooms within City facilities, install and repair structural framing and drywall systems.

Repair damaged roofs, broken windows, moldings, trim pieces and install equipment. Assist with plumbing installation and repairs. Inspect the Municipal Building before opening for business each day. Maintain a trustworthy relationship with City offices and employees served by the Division.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform general cleanup at job sites. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Basic methods and techniques of construction, maintenance and repair of buildings and systems. Basic equipment and tools used in work assigned. Ability to work nights and weekends. Occupational hazards and standards and standard safety practices. Learn to operate a variety of vehicles and stationary equipment in a safe and effective manner. Perform a variety of skilled construction, maintenance, and repair work assigned. Perform a variety of manual tasks for an extended period in unfavorable weather conditions. Perform heavy manual labor. Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude towards the public and employees this department serves. Utilize tools and materials properly to accomplish tasks assigned. Work independently in the absence of supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Required:
One (1) year of increasingly responsible experience performing construction, maintenance, and repair work involving the skilled operation of assigned tools and equipment.
Preferred :
One (1) year of responsible experience in the areas of welding, carpentry, plumbing and construction.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 50 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
Working Environment:
Work closely with others in an office environment; travel from site to site; exposure to waste, infectious materials, chemicals, noise, dust, gasses, fumes, smoke, high voltage, work at heights on scaffolding and ladders and inclement weather.
