Job Title:
Cable and Harness Technician 3 Job Description This role focuses on manufacturing high-quality cable and harness products by interpreting work instructions, schematics, wire lists, and drawings, and performing precise electrical, electronic, and mechanical assembly. You ensure that all work meets company procedures, ISO standards, operation sheets, and production schedules while maintaining clear communication with shop leads and work center management about status and technical issues. You will complete a hands-on skills assessment to demonstrate your technical proficiency and will initially train on first shift before transitioning to second shift. Responsibilities Obtain all necessary information and documentation to perform assigned job tasks and promptly report any discrepancies to the appropriate personnel. Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and wire lists to perform point-to-point assembly, including wiring and soldering large bundles of wires in confined spaces. Follow wiring diagrams to perform wiring using harness boards and properly tie in cables and harnesses. Perform electrical, electronic, and mechanical assembly tasks independently or as part of an assembly team as assigned. Lay out and construct harness boards to assemble and form wiring and cables for a wide variety of electrical, electronic, and mechanical assemblies and subassemblies. Mix and apply bonding components and perform encapsulation as required by work instructions and procedures. Use and operate a broad range of hand tools and assembly equipment safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks. Ensure all work is completed with accuracy and completeness in accordance with operation sheets, ISO procedures, and production schedules. Maintain the quality of hardware by following established company procedures and workmanship standards. Maintain equipment and the work area in a clean, organized, and orderly condition to support safety and efficiency. Provide regular communication to shop leads and work center management regarding work status, technical issues, and any potential risks to schedule or quality. Participate in and successfully complete a hands-on skills assessment to validate technical capability to perform required job duties. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED plus a minimum of 5 additional years of education and/or relevant experience in assembly, electronics, manufacturing, production, or logistics. At least 5 years of experience in electrical assembly and wiring. Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and wire lists for cable and harness assembly. Capability to successfully complete certification toIPC WHMA-A-620
(Cable and Wire Harness Assembly) andNASA-J-STD.
Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude for complex assemblies and subassemblies. Experience working with Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) controls and procedures. Crimping experience for electrical and electronic connections. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for basic documentation and communication. Ability to use a broad range of hand tools and assembly equipment safely and accurately. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality and compliance with ISO procedures and operation sheets. Additional Skills & Qualifications Graduation from a technical trade school in a related field. Current certification to IPC WHMA-A-620, NASA-J-STD, or other relevant electronics assembly and workmanship standards. Experience with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) applications, including workflow signoff and electronic documentation. Experience in cable and wire harness assembly, including working with harness boards and tying in cables and harnesses. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an assembly team. Strong problem-solving skills to identify and communicate technical issues during assembly. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based on-site in a production and assembly environment with no travel required. The role follows a second-shift schedule from 3:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., operating on a 9/80 work schedule, with initial training conducted on first shift for a period of time. You work at assembly stations and harness boards using a wide range of hand tools and assembly equipment to build cable and harness products. The environment follows ISO procedures and ESD controls and supports detailed documentation, including potential use of MES applications for workflow signoff and recordkeeping. The workspace is maintained in a clean and orderly condition, and you are expected to follow standard shop safety practices and appropriate attire consistent with an electronics manufacturing and assembly setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Gilbert, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
