In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex cabling systems. Your expertise in structured cabling, fiber optics, network infrastructure, and low voltage systems will ensure seamless connectivity and optimal system performance. Responsibilities:
Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot various cabling systems including Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic cables, and low voltage wiring in accordance with industry standards such as NEC. Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to accurately execute network installation projects. Perform fiber splicing and connectorization to establish reliable high-speed data links. Conduct field service visits to diagnose and resolve issues related to CCTV systems, VoIP telephony, Ethernet networks, Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, and other networking hardware. Use hand tools and power tools safely to install cable trays, conduits, racks, and equipment cabinets in data centers or telecommunications rooms. Test electrical continuity and signal integrity using ohmmeters and other testing devices; document findings thoroughly. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly with clients regarding project status or technical issues while ensuring minimal disruption during installations or repairs.
Requirements:
With residential, commercial and industrial construction work experience. Proven experience as a cabling technician with a strong background in structured cabling systems including Cat5e/6/6a cables and fiber optic splicing. Hands-on experience with network installation involving Ethernet wiring, Cisco routers, Juniper devices, VoIP systems, and telecommunication infrastructure. Familiarity with schematics, technical diagrams, NEC standards for low voltage wiring, and computer networking principles. Ability to operate hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, multimeters (ohmmeters), along with power tools for conduit cutting and rack assembly. Knowledge of CCTV installation and troubleshooting along with experience working on data center projects or large-scale IT infrastructure deployments. Strong customer service skills combined with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments. Electrical experience including power distribution systems is preferred; relevant certifications such as BICSI certification or telecommunications training are a plus.
