Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated Fiber Cable Technician to join our telecommunications team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic and copper cabling systems that form the backbone of modern communication networks. Your expertise will ensure reliable connectivity for commercial, and industrial clients. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in fiber splicing, network installation, and telecommunication infrastructure, contributing to the seamless operation of high-speed data and voice services. Responsibilities Perform fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing to ensure optimal signal integrity and performance. Install and troubleshoot network infrastructure including Ethernet, telephony systems, and low-voltage cabling. Use hand tools and specialized equipment such as ohmmeters to diagnose electrical issues and verify cable continuity. Conduct site surveys to determine the best routing for fiber and copper cables, adhering to safety standards. Connect and configure Cisco routers and other networking hardware to support network operations. Assist with the installation of telecommunication systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including test results and cable layouts. Collaborate with team members and clients to resolve technical issues efficiently. Follow safety protocols related to electrical work, mechanical handling, and field service procedures. Support ongoing maintenance activities to sustain network reliability. Experience Proven field service experience as a telecommunications or service technician specializing in fiber optics or related systems. Hands-on experience with fiber splicing techniques, network installation, and troubleshooting. Knowledge of electrical systems, low-voltage wiring, mechanical components, and safety practices. Ability to operate testing tools such as ohmmeters and other electrical measurement devices. Strong mechanical aptitude combined with excellent problem-solving skills. Prior experience working with telecommunication infrastructure in diverse environments is highly desirable.
