This is a hands-on lead role requiring deep proficiency with Milestone/OnSSI VMS platforms, Axis and Avigilon IP cameras, and S2 access control systems, combined with strong door hardware skills and the ability to guide other technicians and keep installs moving on schedule.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Pull and run low-voltage wire through commercial environments including conduit, open ceiling, and finished spaces Terminate, test, and label structured cabling, camera drops, and access control wiring Install and commission IP cameras from Axis, Avigilon, and Arecont — PTZ, fixed, and specialty Configure and troubleshoot Milestone Systems and OnSSI VMS platforms at the field level Install, wire, and configure S2 access control components including card readers, door strikes, mag locks, and control panels Cut and prepare door hardware for electric strike and mag lock installations Apply Wiegand protocol wiring standards for access control system integration Support Cisco IP video surveillance infrastructure on networked deployments Mentor and direct junior technicians on the job site Ensure work quality meets company and customer standards before closeout Coordinate with project management on schedule, material needs, and scope changes Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site at all times
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of field experience in low-voltage installation — access control, CCTV, or security integration Hands-on experience with Axis, Avigilon, or Arecont IP camera installation and configuration Working knowledge of Milestone Systems or OnSSI VMS — device adding, camera configuration, basic troubleshooting Experience with S2 or comparable access control platforms at the panel and reader level Solid understanding of Wiegand protocol and access control wiring standards Experience cutting and installing door strikes and wiring mag locks Comfortable operating in a lead capacity — setting pace, answering questions, reviewing work Hand tools, reliable transportation, and ability to pass background check and drug screen
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Axis Network Video Certification or equivalent camera manufacturer training Milestone Systems or OnSSI field-level certification S2 Systems installation experience Familiarity with Cisco IP video surveillance network infrastructure
BENEFITS & COMPENSATION
Hourly rate: $28 - $42/hr based on experience Full-time position with consistent work across active Northern California projects
