Kokomo Position Overview:
Zynexel is seeking dependable and professional FTTH Fiber Installation Technicians to support residential fiber installation, repair, fiber drop, troubleshooting, and splicing operations in Lafayette, Franklin, and Westfield, Indiana. This opportunity is intended for technicians who take ownership of their work, maintain high standards in the field, communicate effectively, and provide a professional customer experience. Previous FTTH experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with relevant telecommunications, cable, low-voltage, networking, electrical, technical, or field service experience are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Perform residential FTTH installations and service repairs Install and activate ONTs, gateways, routers, and Wi-Fi equipment Install, route, secure, and maintain residential fiber drops Perform fiber optic splicing when required by assigned work orders Prepare, strip, clean, cleave, splice, terminate, and protect fiber correctly Perform troubleshooting and repair of damaged or failed fiber connections Test optical signal levels and verify service performance Diagnose fiber connectivity, network, Wi-Fi, and activation issues Complete work orders, required documentation, and job-site photographs accurately Maintain clean, organized, and professional installations Communicate professionally with customers throughout installations and repairs Maintain clear communication with dispatch, field support, and operations Protect customer property and maintain a clean work area Follow project procedures, installation specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements Manage assigned work orders efficiently throughout the day Qualifications Previous residential FTTH or fiber installation experience preferred Fiber optic splicing experience strongly preferred Experience with residential installations, repairs, fiber drops, ONT activation, fiber testing, and troubleshooting is preferred Experience with Quantum Fiber, Lumen, Brightspeed, Metronet, Frontier, Verizon Fios, AT&T Fiber, Ziply Fiber, Comcast, T-Mobile Fiber, or similar telecommunications providers is a plus Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple daily assignments Ability to work effectively during high-volume periods and challenging field situations Functional English for customer and operations communication Bilingual English and Spanish is preferred but not required Preferred Safety Training The following safety training is preferred but not required at the time of application : OSHA 10 Construction Ladder Safety Training Fall Protection Training Candidates without these credentials are still encouraged to apply.
Contractor Requirements Technicians must:
Hold a valid driver's license Be legally authorized to work in the United States Be available full-time in the Lafayette, Franklin, or Westfield service area Be able to complete required background screening, Motor Vehicle Record review, drug screening, onboarding, and project-specific requirements Be comfortable performing residential ladder and outdoor field work Be able to safely transport required ladders, tools, equipment, and materials Have a smartphone with reliable mobile data service Be comfortable using mobile applications for work orders, documentation, photographs, and field communication Vehicle Requirements Technicians must provide and maintain their own white field vehicle suitable for daily operations.
Acceptable vehicles include:

  • Minivan
  • SUV•Transit Van The vehicle must be capable of safely transporting ladders, tools, test equipment, and required field materials.
Tools and Equipment Technicians are responsible for providing the equipment necessary to perform independent field assignments, including: FTTH installation tools Fiber optic splicing tools Fusion splicer Fiber cleaver and stripping tools Fiber testing equipment Optical Power Meter Visual Fault Locator Required ladders Smartphone with reliable mobile data PPE and standard field safety equipment Additional equipment may be required depending on assigned work. Insurance Technicians who already maintain commercial insurance coverage are encouraged to identify their current coverage during the application process.
Coverage may include:
General Liability Workers' Compensation Commercial Auto Umbrella or Excess Liability Insurance requirements may vary depending on project and onboarding requirements. Schedule and Availability The regular project schedule is Monday through Friday . Technicians are expected to be at the first scheduled customer appointment and ready to begin work by 7:55 a.m. Additional assignments may be available on Saturday and Sunday for technicians who want additional production opportunities. Weekend availability is based on workload and project demand. Performance Expectations Technicians are expected to maintain consistent standards for productivity, quality, safety, communication, and customer service.
Performance expectations include:
Reliable attendance and on-time arrival Readiness for the first scheduled appointment by 7:55 a.m. Consistent completion of assigned work orders Efficient management of daily installations and repairs Strong installation and repair quality Accurate troubleshooting and problem resolution Compliance with Quality Control inspections and reviews Prompt correction of QC issues when required Low repeat and customer callback rates Accurate work-order documentation Complete and accurate job-site photographs Timely work-order status updates Professional customer service Clear communication with dispatch, field support, and operations Prompt communication regarding delays, technical problems, customer concerns, or conditions that may affect work-order completion Ability to maintain performance during high-volume or challenging field conditions Compliance with project procedures, quality standards, installation specifications, and safety requirements Performance Metrics Field performance may be evaluated using operational metrics including: On-time arrival Attendance and availability Completed work orders Installation completion rate Repair completion rate Daily productivity Quality Control results Repeat service calls Customer callbacks Work-order accuracy Required photographs and documentation Customer service Communication with dispatch and support Compliance with project standards Continued work assignments depend on maintaining required performance, quality, safety, and customer service standards.
Compensation:
This position is compensated on a production basis .
Weekly earning potential:
$1,800 to $3,000+ Actual earnings vary based on completed production, experience, performance, available work orders, and project demand. The stated range represents earning potential and is not a guaranteed weekly amount. Start Immediate openings.
