Job Title:
Low Voltage Security Installation Technician Job Description This role focuses on installing and supporting low voltage security systems, including Cat5/Cat6 cabling, CCTV, alarms, and access control devices across multiple buildings. You will work as part of a field-based team, installing hardware such as Mercury devices, pulling and terminating cable, and ensuring reliable, high-quality security installations for commercial sites. Responsibilities Install, configure, and support CCTV systems, including camera mounting, positioning, and connection. Install, terminate, and test Cat5 and Cat6 cabling to support security and access control systems. Install and wire alarms and entry access devices, including readers, door hardware, and related components. Install and commission hardware devices such as Mercury access control hardware and other low voltage equipment. Perform wire pulling, routing, labeling, and cable management to maintain clean and organized installations. Work within a team across multiple buildings, coordinating daily tasks with a lead technician assigned to each site. Follow electrical and low voltage best practices, safety standards, and site procedures while performing installations. Use personal hand tools and company-provided larger equipment to complete daily installation tasks efficiently. Troubleshoot and resolve basic installation issues related to wiring, connectivity, and device performance. Communicate effectively with the lead technician and team members to report progress, issues, and material needs. Maintain a professional presence on customer sites and ensure work areas are left clean and orderly after installations. Essential Skills 3+ years of experience leading or working on low voltage projects and crews. Hands-on experience with CCTV installation and camera installation. Proficiency with Cat5 and Cat6 cabling, including pulling, terminating, and testing. Experience with security system installation, including alarms and access control devices. Knowledge of low voltage electrical practices and standards. Ability to install and work with access control systems and related hardware, such as Mercury devices. Capability to perform wire pulling and cable management in commercial environments. Strong self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and take initiative. Self-sufficient work style with minimal need for supervision once tasks are assigned. Ownership of standard personal hand tools required for low voltage and security installations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience working on multi-building or campus-style projects. Experience collaborating with a lead technician or project lead across multiple sites. Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and reporting progress. Solid problem-solving skills for resolving on-site installation and wiring issues. Work Environment This is a traveling field assignment focused on commercial sites in and around Indiana, with the long-term goal of establishing a permanent local office to support ongoing business. Work takes place across multiple buildings, typically in a team structure with a lead technician overseeing each building. The environment involves on-site work that includes pulling cable, installing devices, and working in ceilings, equipment rooms, and other building infrastructure areas. Standard personal hand tools are required and brought by you, while the company provides larger tools and equipment as needed. The role involves regular travel between sites, working in a variety of commercial facility conditions, and collaborating closely with other technicians in the field. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Frederick, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
