The Lead Cabling Tech works directly with the project manager, estimators, and customers to review work order, project scope and any other requirements. The incumbent should be knowledgeable and understanding of telecommunications standards, as well as able to understand customer needs in order to provide recommendations. The Technician will consistently provide clear and concise communication via email and phone to the project manager and/or job lead. The chosen candidate will provide exceptional communication skills, a strong attention to detail and high sense of urgency through the project. The Lead Cabling Technician must be able to travel and work out of town on an as-needed basis by company provided vehicle or flight. Work schedule, including out of town work as needed, may include weekends and holidays.
Essential Functions:
Meeting with customers, reviewing project scope and individual tasks. Pulling/Installing, and supporting CAT 5e/CAT6 cable. Pulling/installing, and supporting innerduct with fiber. Terminating, testing and labeling CAT5e, CAT6, and Single/Multi Mode fiber. Building out complete IDF/DMF including installing Racks, Cabinets and ladder racking. Dressing cables and installing fiber channel trays. Install grounding and bonding, including TMGB bars. Drilling, including the use of hammer and core drills; cutting ceiling tiles. Penetrating firewalls, installing UL approved fire penetration solution including fire sleeves and fire stops. Create detailed as-built of the complete job. Testing and certifying installed cables, including copper and fiber. Troubleshooting and repairing copper and fiber connections issues. Install, cut, bend EMT conduit and raceway as needed to complete pathways. Document and report completed tasks on a daily basis to the project manager or lead tech. Maintain quality of service by establishing and enforcing industry and organizational standards. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing assigned tasks as needed. Lead by example and exceed requirements for all policies including attendance and dress codes. Collaborates effectively with the Management team to ensure assigned tasks completed in a timely manner. The incumbent may be asked to perform other duties as apparent or assigned. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the trade. Knowledge of Fluke test equipment. Ability to follow directions and resolve problems. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Must be reliable and dependable, self-motivated and willing to learn and contribute to the development of a successful Infrastructure Service team. Ability to work out of town, weekends and holidays as required. Ability to read and understand construction floorplans. Able to effectively communicate to clients, peers, managers and product manufactures via email and phone. Ability to work closely with peers and Project Manager. Experience Level Entry Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Reno, NV. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $69.50 - $69.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
