Job Description

StarCom Communications Services, Inc. specializes in the design and installation of commercial structured cabling. We are looking for both experienced and senior level technicians to add to our staff. We currently are looking into staffing our work on Long Island and the NYC Metro Area with the best and brightest talent in our field. Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent (College Degree Preferred) At least 3 years experience in the low voltage infrastructure field. OSHA 30 (SST Card and Super Visor Cards Preferred) Driver's License and Personal Vehicle to get to the job sites. Motivated Hard Working, Honest, Reliable, Willing to work with others as a team. Must be able to work different shifts (Day, Swing, Graveyard) depending on the project. Must be able to occasionally work overtime and weekends. Must have tools of the trade. Manufacturer Certifications (Ortronics, Corning, Commscope,Hilti Etc.) Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings. Must be able to work safely following company policy/procedures on safety. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds as necessary. Ability to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and overall be able to complete the physical work that is required of this type of work. Comfortable with, and capable of, working in open construction environments. A Technician will be responsible for: Category rated copper solution installation (Cat 6, Cat 6A,Shielded) and terminations. Fiber Optic structured cable distribution system installation. Installation of cable support pathways and raceways. Pulling cable, fire stopping, dressing cables and labeling to industry standards. Terminating, assembling and installing 8-pin modular connectors, coaxial connectors and optical fiber connectors. Accurately testing copper and fiber cables to required certifications utilizing appropriate test equipment. Diagnosing and correcting copper and optical fiber problems. Installation of patch cords and ability to follow patching schedules. Reading blue prints to determine closet and equipment layouts, must demonstrate written and verbal skills. Installing closet hardware including backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels and fiber enclosures. Attending training and safety meetings, and working safely at all times utilizing the necessary Personal Protection Equipment. Depending on experience level leading cabling teams from 2 technicians to larger crews. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds as necessary Ability to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and drive for extended periods. Comfortable with, and capable of, working in open construction environments. Directly related experience (cabling, construction trades), preferably in Telecom industry
