Job Summary The Data Center Technician I is an entry-level role responsible for supporting the installation and build-out of data center infrastructure and equipment. This position is well suited for candidates with backgrounds in construction, skilled trades, or mechanical work who are looking to transition into the data center industry. The technician assists with cable installation, rack and equipment setup, fiber and copper termination, and infrastructure assembly while following safety standards and installation documentation. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow blueprints and technical instructions, and the ability to work in a physically active environment. Job Responsibilities Install cable infrastructure and perform fiber rough-in within the data center environment Perform cable management including dressing, routing, and labeling fiber and copper cabling Terminate fiber and copper cables according to installation standards Rack and stack customer equipment within server cabinets and racks Assist with server rack build-outs and maintain rack elevation documentation Install fiber trays, ladder racks, cabinets, and customer equipment Support infrastructure installations including cable management systems, fiber tray systems, ladder racks, and power trays Receive materials, verify inventory, and assist with hardware assembly Perform Outside Plant (OSP) installation work including running fiber into the data center facility Read and follow blueprint drawings and installation documentation Communicate professionally with team members, supervisors, and management Follow all jobsite safety guidelines including proper use of PPE, maintaining clean work areas, and adhering to OSHA standards Job Requirements High school diploma or GED equivalency 0-2 years of experience in a data center technician role or related technical environment Entry-level candidates welcome Experience in construction, skilled trades, mechanical work, telecommunications installation, or related hands-on technical environments preferred Prior experience working with tools, installation projects, or facility operations is beneficial Active OSHA 10 certification preferred Ability to read and follow installation drawings, blueprints, and written instructions Ability to work on ladders or scissor lifts and in confined spaces when required Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move equipment up to 75 pounds Ability to stand and remain on feet for extended periods during the work shift Basic hand tools required including screwdriver (multi-bit), tape measure, snips, pliers (needle nose and channel lock), punch down tool, flashlight, tool pouch, gloves, and steel toe or composite toe work boots Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance 401(k) Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.) Standard shift begins at 6:00 AM Overtime and weekend work may be required based on project schedules Travel may be required depending on project location When travel is required, flights and lodging will be covered and a $50 daily per diem will be provided for meals and incidental expenses 26-02462
